2016 GT with 1,600 miles, top case, Nav V for $7,500 - worth it?

    Hi everyone,

I'd love some advice. You may remember I'm converting from a Burgman 650 Exec. and really like the look and finish of the BMW C650GT, and have test ridden one and liked it. I'm debating whether to buy the below C650GT. It's white (my second favorite color behind the new blue!), and also has a top case already installed ($800 or so in value) and a BMW Navigator V with cradle! Only 1,600 miles, I'm waiting for a response about how much warranty is left, but I'm strongly considering hopping a plane to Columbus Saturday morning and riding this back about 7 hours to Washington, DC. The dealer has very strong ratings. Any input would be valued.

Lastly, does anyone with a white bike hate how it gets dirty easily, or am I worrying about nothing?

I've got a 2013 GT and love it. YES I think its a good deal. If you're nervous about it, get an extended 4 year full warranty beyond your 3 year. It will still be a good deal.

Yeah, I second the good deal! Let me know if this dealer has any similar deals on an R1200RT!

    Good luck!

Thanks so much for the input. I'm waiting to hear back on when the warranty ends (to be sure I can extend it), and the general condition. It's a 7+ hour ride home, or a really expensive return flight if I get there and don't want it!

Kelly Blue book asking price is $8,100 retail at a dealer. That's a good price to start; this time of year you can GRIND him, as trade-in is $5,700 so he has room to move on the price. Also, consider your time and trouble, riding THIS time of year. Find out how much to have it shipped (my brother had a bike shipped from Quebec to San Diego in February, and including customs was only about $1,200.) Yours would be what, $500-600? Have him knock it off the price to get you there, including gas and an overnight stay on the way home.

The original purchaser is his loss and your savings.

I hate plain white, I would strip it down and wrap it in a pearl white and add a red and blue pinstripe like the 1979-1980 R100RT or the R100RS my favorite bmw color combo of all time

I have 2 bikes that are white. Getting them cleaned up is no problem. With white you have a blank canvas to stripe, etc., but I personally like the look of the bike as is.

(Surprised Skutorr didn't suggest they throw in Dr. Pulley Sliders, too.)

Thanks for the suggestions - I believe I got a really good deal! Turns out there was a typo and the bike has 2,666 miles, but with all else checking out, I bought it. It was sold and serviced at the same dealership where it's selling now by a guy in his 60s (adult driven). Not a scratch on it. BMW installed the Navigator, and I asked them to throw in an oil change and a Powerlet port as I'll NEED my Gerbings jacket and pants to get it home. I do think the white looks nice, it stands out, and people will likely think I'm a cop as they approach it, giving me extra room!

Now to decide on the extended warranty, which kicks in after the BMW warranty expires in August 2019. He's offering it to me at $1,250 for a 2-year extension. Would you guys do it? My Suzuki Burgman didn't need $1,250 in work the whole 9 years and 36,000 miles I owned it, but I've read BMWs could be more. Doubtful the warranty would cover the expensive annual services.

I fly out Friday morning to pick it up and have 2 days to ride it the 400 miles home - should be a great "get to know her" ride!

DCScooter ... For the miles on your “new” bike, it should have had only one oil change (600 miles) as it is … so it is practically new! If it were me, I’d not waste any $ on an extended warranty as that won’t cover service expenses (and there’s where your costs will be if you were to keep it long term).

Congratulations … I think you are killing this deal and getting a fabulous machine with great aftermarket accessories (matching Topcase & Nav)!

Here let me help you see why You Are Killing It … I own 2016 GT purchased new (with tax) for $11,966. 9,001 miles so far (2 oil changes and replacement tires … those expenses are a wash b/c they fall under “service”). After the first month I was unhappy with the Frozen Bronze color (for which I actually paid extra) so I had it professionally repainted Red Ruby Metallic because the original paint was just too boring to me for a machine that can move like this. Paid $1,200. Added a matching passenger backrest, a Cal Sci windscreen, Garmin navigation, and a KAOKO throttle lock. Paid $914.

My total investment in my 2016 BMW is $14,080. So I’m excited for you on this fabulous deal you have found!

I paid about $1,100 for 4 years coverage on everything. Don't think I'd do 2 years at that price. But what a price increase!
