I'm going to Alaska for two weeks on the 29th. I hope to cross 3k before then!

    Passenger Backrest

That actually looks really nice and seems to be well made!

    I'm kinda back....

I hope you have beat the cancer and recover quickly from the surgery. I liked installing my own tires if for no other reason I could index the tires to the rim to use the least amount of weight possible (often no weight at all). The last time I put on tires was on my VFR. These new sidewalls...

    Milestone Pic

Almost at 3000 miles (will cross this tank of gas) and I still love this bike. I really have not done a lot to it; the bike needs very little out of the crate IMO. It is a really well thought out machine. I thought I would have been at 3K/4k already but I bought a new truck and have been...

    K&N Air filter

That is actually very interesting. I never would have guessed that at all. On the exhaust, it seems that most are reporting improved performance. It's just not something I do. Thanks for sharing and adding to the data on this!!

Quiet as can be on mine.

Has anyone put one of these one button parking brakes on their bike?

Ahh! Gotcha. I should have picked up on that. Sorry.

    Wunderlich Windshield for C400GT

Full agreement on the handguards, none better on any bike I've ever owned. The windscreen, we'll have to politely agree to disagree! IT was just okay in my opinion. I feel I lucked out in that mine was defective, the vent would not stay closed, and was able to return it.

    New to BMW

Congrats on the bike and we're looking forward to hearing how you like it!

Great point about the grip puppies, Bill. I'm failing to see the connection between the GT's ABS and the passive devices we're discussing here. What is your concern?

    Wunderlich Windshield for C400GT

If for no other reason to go with Puig, or another quality brand, the optical clarity is predictable and very good. eBay or Ali Express products don’t have that level of predictability.

    Wunderlich Windshield for C400GT

I've tried a lot of configurations: Stock (currently using) Stock with Puig extender Wunderlich Givi (currently have still in the box) Calsci (Small) These are my opinions at 6' 02": The Givi is the best out of all of them whisper quiet but still has adequate air flow and it is very...

    prospective owner concerned about reliability?

Thanks. I was hoping it was "small world" connection that we both might have had.

    prospective owner concerned about reliability?

I have a buddy who lives in Italy. There is no bigger two wheel enthusiast than him. He bought the Tmax two years ago, has ridden it over 50,000 Kms, not one issue and swears it is the best bike out of the box you can buy. You're going to be fine with whatever you buy (it seems) with your...

Is your buddy Brian Kopp by chance, Bill? Cruise is on the AKs hitting our shores?

    prospective owner concerned about reliability?

I see Bill mentioned the AK550. Holy cow what a lovefest the owners have for this bike. These guys and girls are doing everything with them, touring to grocery getter and they are just adored. Might be worth a ride. I did sit on one before buying the BMW.

    prospective owner concerned about reliability?

Nope. I love Hondas. I’ve owned 4 (traditional form factor bikes) and still have one that I’m riding from Florida to Toronto Canada then Florida to some western state to be named. I have zero reservations about the reliability of the brand. If I could only have one bike, and I was going to...

    prospective owner concerned about reliability?

Exactly. Funny. I read about low motorcycle accident rates in Rome, then I went there. Though motos are moving faster than cagers, they’re still only going 20 miles an hour, tops. Lower speeds almost always translates to fewer accidents. Off topic. Sorry.

    prospective owner concerned about reliability?

I think there would need to be factorial fuel price increases for large scale two-wheel adoption to occur here in the USA. You can search for the data, there are many sources, showing there is little change in gas consumption during the time periods where gasoline prices increase. If I recall...

    prospective owner concerned about reliability?

What would make you believe that a BMW single cylinder CVT bike is less capable than a similarly designed bike from another manufacturer? They all have gaskets, most have belts, the clutches are sometimes interchangeable across brands. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question, and it is more...
