    First Extended Ride

I picked up my 2016 C650GT the end May. I now have put 1,900 miles on the bike. Last week I did my first extended ride. Started in Grand Rapids, MI, took the high-speed ferry across lake Michigan to Milwaukee and from there to La Crosse, WI. Spent the next three days touring Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa using La Crosse as a base. Spent a night in Madison and then back to Milwaukee, across the lake to Muskegon and home. All totaled, about 900 miles of riding.

I am 60, been riding for ten years and have owned three prior bikes: 2004 Triumph Bonneville, 2010 Triumph Thunderbird, 2013 Triumph Trophy. All those were very nice, comfortable, bikes, but the C650GT is hands-down the most comfortable. On all those other bikes I'd start to squirm at about the 50 mile mark, whereas with the C650GT, 100+ is not an issue. I'm a big guy at 6'1", 225, and I would like a bit more cushion in the seat, but that's something that can be rectified.

This all started for me after reading this article in the WSJ: https://www.wsj.com/articles/why-bmw...day-1493323460

With my back and knee issues I was going to give up motorcycling, the that article convinced me to try the big BMW scooter. So far so good.
