Wow you got the fancy tool! I'd recommending watching wear VERY closely. My DP clutch destroyed the $300 US clutch bell after 10,000 miles because it wore unevenely. DP was a pain to work with and didn't want to support me. I went back to the stock clutch after that very expensive experience.

hi,ok i just bought a 2016 650 c sports from a dealer here in australia . in melborne and shipping up to sydney . not here yet . whats is the cost for a oem clutch fitted but a dealer ??

Good question but I'd suspect at least $400 US, not including the cost of the clutch.

My advice is unless you know there's a problem, don't mess with it. My original clutch (66k miles) is still in good shape. (I wish I'd never futzed with it).

65 miles that very good after such good performance what was your motivation to go after market >? ?? is yours the series 2 650c sport??,,,, did they change the clutch on the newer models ??

Well, I'd heard good things about the performance of the DP clutch and figured mine would be nearing the end of its life. I swapped it out at around 40k miles and around 50k miles was hearing a metal-on-metal sound coming from that area. I pulled everything apart only to find that the leading edge of the shoes was completely worn and the clutch bell was scored. I went back to Dr. Pullley (via Buggy Parts NW) and sent them photos of everything (two are attached). I didn't many ANY modifications to the DP clutch -- all springs were as it was shipped.

Over the course of 3-4 months, they finally sent me four new shoes. Zero information on how to replace them. I spent quite a bit of time trying to get the clutch apart to get the new shoes installed -- no luck. Maybe if I had a machine shop with tons of presses, tools, etc., it might be doable. Definitely not to the average person. I begged they just send me a complete clutch and I'd return the defective. Nope, no dice.

So, the summary is that maybe I got a bad clutch but DP's customer service sucked and the whole incident cost me at least $500. Worst of all, the original OEM clutch was fine and probably could've gone > 80,000 miles.

PS. If anybody wants four DP new shoes, new springs, and a partially disassembled clutch, let me know. It's about to go in the trash.

ok great i see now , odd the uneven wear mind , i heard that there is away of taking that shine off via sharp acceleration or something like that .. what life of the belt ?? i would have tought while ya do a belt the clutch would be the next item to be replaced at the same time ?? these items list to be replaced at certain times /mile age interval or just wait and see ?? oh and did you replace with oem or DP ?? you have pics of both items side by side ??

That "shine" you see in the second picture is the metal base plate. IIRC, I also replaced the belt at the same time.

As far as I know there's no documented lifespan of the clutch. Based on my use (most of which is in-town), I'd guess it could easily go at least 75k miles. My advice would be to just check it whenever you replace the belt and take steps if needed. Most riders probably won't see nearly that many miles and will never have to worry about it.

ok , whats the service intervals/replacement ment to be on the belts ? rollers too iam guessing here aswell ?? after market or oem for rollers ?
