2016 C650 Sport Check Oil warning intermittant.

Thanks for the repllies, After posting I came across another thread on the subject where it became clear that these sensors are very often giving off wrong readings. I'll keep tinkering because I really don't like seeing warning lights, even to-be-ignored ones.

2016 C650 Sport Check Oil warning intermittant.

Reviving this thread. My oil level sensor has always been sensitive (pun intended). When I first got the bike I had its running in service done at the dealer and they overfilled it ('check oil' message appeared), so I removed some oil to get it to the max mark and that solved it. Then, maybe 2...

    The Famous Cam Chain Tensioner

Have not tried but equally intrigued. For my F800ST a California company developed a similar tensioner that is externally adjusted. It does look like a better option than keep replacing the badly-designed (or badly made) original part, which is also more expensive to boot.

    Newly Acquired C650GT Needs Work

Congratulations on your purchase. Definitely install the new tensioner, it's not a lot of work and the shop manual (on DVD for a modest price or online if you can find it) has clear instructions for the job. I decided to 'while in there' also check the idle air hoses that can leak and cause poor...

    Throttle lock

Yes, that's how the installation worked on my C650 Sport and F800ST.

    Throttle lock

I have two of these on my BMWs. They came with the bar-end attached/integrated with the lock. Clever design that works well. The only drawbacks I find are: (1) to 'activate' the lock, I find I need to let off the gas so I can use that right hand to turn the lock, and (2) on hills it doesn't work...

BMW not very welcome in Central Illinois

I got used to using the BMW service manual and find it to be pretty good. But ask away and I'm sure you will get good assistance here.

    Clutch Problem?

The ASC in my experience only kicks in when the rear tire slips, which it so far has only done on wet surfaces. So in my experience, if you are on dry roads, you can accelerate all-out without ASC interfering. The shop manual I bought is a DVD, not aware of hardcopies being available.

Welcome back Pappy13! Hope your strength recovers well and enjoy the scoot!

    Clutch Problem?

Let me suggest you do the 'manual deglazing' hack more forcefully/longer/stronger. I noticed the same on my 2016 Sport but only since I started riding long (120 mile plus) fast highway stretches. Next mornings, the clutch would do what you describe: thumps and jumps/catching/slipping. I applied...

    Driveline vibration elimination (hopefully!)

Have not yet taken the step to dismantle the rear axle again to try to replace the bearing. I dread the work a bit due to the press fit, need for blowtorch, freezing axle to fit new bearing etc, but at least the big socket did come in so I can tackle it when I get my courage up. Meanwhile I've...

    Windshield cleaning

My BMW dealer recommended a product called PLEXUS and it really works. It's expensive but you use very little so one can will probably outlast you and/or your bike(s). I also use it regularly to clean and polish my helmet's visor - very important for safety...

Help with messages on the display

Congratulations with your purchase, we look forward to seeing the whole bike! You don't (should not) need any software modifications AFAIK when you mount the stock exhaust back on. To be 100% sure you can look up the installation instructions for the Akrapovich but I seriously doubt a software...

    High beam going out

Many motorcycle riders do ride with their high beams on during the day, on the I405 / I5 that my commute is on. I don't because I don't want to tick off car drivers as I lane split. I did order me a set of those yellow auxiliary lights to give me more visibility but those, too, I will only use...

    High beam going out

I've had to replace my low beam lamp more often than I'd like, within a year last time. But certainly not the high beam as I only very rarely turn that on, it's still the original one I believe. But, if you routinely ride with high beams on then depending on the type of bulbs you buy, I guess it...

    Auxiliary driving lights

Thanks for that - I just placed my (first ever) order on AliExpress and because it was my first, I received a 'welcome gift' and the total cost delivered was only $1.50. I tried ordering two sets but was limited to 1 per order so we'll see how they do and if I like them I will order a second set...

    Auxiliary driving lights

Can you share what you bought Shaun2007? I am considering putting same on my two bikes as I believe they will help with my lane-splitting on the California I-405.

Help with messages on the display

If the picture was taken after the service, the only thing that would make sense is if the service was not done by a BMW dealer, nor by anyone that has the appropriate scanner/software etc to reset the service indicator, so I would just ask the seller who did the service and does s/he have the...
