You can go the NTSB website and enter your vin number and get any recalls listed for your car, truck or motorcycle.

Mine was 2014 and had 2nd gen tensioner mechanical. It started making noise and found out it was tensioner. I had the shops call and fight to get mine replaced. They called for over 6 weeks and finally was shutdown by BWM Germany. I paid $1200 for the hydraulic upgrade. This was the 2nd one...

Did it have the hydraulic chain tensioner or the 2nd Generation mechanical tensioner? It should have been making a noise ahead of time as a warning. Bmw won’t do anything if you had the 2nd gen tensioner. At least they didn’t for me. I hope you have better luck.

Yes, unfortunately you will have to pay out of pocket for the hydraulic tensioner if / when your tensioner starts to go. No need to do it unless you start to hear a noise from the engine. hopefully you won’t have to any time soon.

It was the “newer” generation mechanical tensioner. The recall covered the first generation but the 2nd generation models are starting to fail. There was only 5000 miles on mine. I could send you the lift. It may be after Christmas before I can get to it.

Putting out a 2015 650 GT. Everything except the engine as a cam chain tensioner broke and ruin the engine. Please let me know if you need any parts.

Definitely sounds like the timing chain. Do you know if you have the hydraulic tensioner for the timing chain? If you do not have the hydraulic model the you should stop driving it immediately. hopefully it is not that, but if your bmw dealer doesn’t work on scooters often, then they could be...
