Is the C650 too much machine to serve as a first-ever bike?

You'll be fine. I'm about the same size and ride a c600 sport mostly for commuting. They aren't quick compared to say a sport bike, but definitely faster than most cars off the line. The power is very linear and it would be hard to get yourself into trouble. The CVT makes the bike pretty...

C600 6000 miles and 4 years; likes and dislikes

I've had my c600 four years. Likes: Size: Fits my 6 foot 240 frame fine. Styling: Always get comments on it. I have the matte blue. Looks sport bikish. Heated Grips & Seat: Never buy a bike again without. Power: Fast enough Dislikes: Low End: I hate the clutch lag. Wish it accelerated...

    6’3”

I'm 6 foot with 33 inseam. My c600 fits me great. I've done 500 mile days on it. You can move your feet around quite a bit. I can kind of prop my feet up similar to highway pegs when necessary.

Rode the scooter in 25 degree F weather last Friday.

I have a c600 and would commute about 10 miles in Chicago. I'd ride down to about 30 degrees or so. The constant ice and salt on the roads is a huge hazard though, so I typically stop once we get a snow. I bought a pair of insulated overpants and layer up pretty good. I also ride with a neck...

What has everybody been up yo?

I have a 2.5 year old and a little girl due in March. I haven't had much of any free time to ride. I probably did less than 1000 miles this year and 500 of those miles were a charity ride over one weekend. I'm most likely going to be trading in the c600 this spring. Triumph Bobber or...

    webBikeWorld compares 1st Gen and 2nd Gen C650 GT's

Has anyone heard if the new clutch and associated parts used in the new models fit the older models? I don't think I'd buy a new one, but if they've significantly decreased the clutch slippage at start I'd consider upgrading the clutch parts. I've been real close to pulling the trigger on a...

how far do you go before filling up?

I start looking for gas as soon as the light comes on. I ignored it once thinking I had a good 20 miles or so left only to run out of gas. Fortunately, I was only about a mile from a gas station. Ironically, I was planning to stop at it when I ran out. Scared the bejeezus out of me as the...

California Highway 1; Pacific Coast Highway

The wife and I stayed at Carmel Valley Ranch resort for our "baby moon" two x-mas's ago. It was phenomenal. Easy drive to Big Sur, Monterrey, and Pebble Beach. The entire time I was there I kept thinking about how much I wish I had my bike to enjoy the roads and views.

C650 Sport: They fixed the C600 Sport!

Supposedly they changed the clutch and rollers. I am curious to know if it performs any better. My biggest gripe is the throttle lag (and lack of cruise control). If it is a new clutch/rollers I wonder if they are interchangeable with the previous model.

    Dr Pulley HIT Clutch

Has anyone seen any real world numbers in regards to the performance gains (or losses) from after market sliders / clutches?

There's a New Kid on the block...

Looks good. It does look kind of a like a t-max clone with a BMW 1200rt upfront. We sure Kymco isn't making tmaxes? I'd be curious to see the performance numbers. I still don't think they will see a ton of them here in the states. I can see Europeans and other countries buying them though.

    The bad news is...

I think the issue is that there aren't many alternatives... arguably, the more reliable bikes are not as nice or sexy as the bimmers. I would tend to think BMW is competing against Ducati, KTM, MV Agusta, etc... not necessarily the Japanese bikes which at least have a rep for being more...

    Our mirror may SUCK...

I have them as well. They are too small. I feel like I have to concentrate to hard to determine if a car is in the blind spot and thus feel like I am taking my eye off the road ahead for too long.

    Our mirror may SUCK...

Given how cheap TFT screens and cameras are these days, I wish a manufacturer would just add a camera to bikes. Really no reason major touring bikes don't have this technology yet. Then again, we are still begging for cruise control on our scoots.

    Everyone selling their BMW scooters?

I'm keeping mine although I have been considering trading it in for a "real motorcycle". Considering a MV Agusta Turismo Veloce or the BMW s1000xr. I like my c600 and it has been flawless, but I'd like a little more power (acceleration) and cruise control. I don't get to ride as much as I'd...

    Newest consumer reports Reliability Rankings...

All the computer controlled and electronic doo dads decrease reliability. My C600 has been pretty flawless though. I do think sometimes engineers over engineer things just for the sake of it.
