I am in the market for a new bike and saw the scooter they are making and my wife and I both really liked what we saw . So if we do take the next step does anyone know what a fair price would be ? It was around $11000. and that seamed a bit steep to me so here I am at the source of these scoots looking for some help . Thanks In Advance for you help :)

There aren't as many GTs out there as other type of bikes. For starters scooters aren't popular in the US. You gotta be secure in your masculinity. The macho image created by HD ya know. A lot of motorcycle riders don't realize how these machines can perform. My '13 GT was close to $11k new, I think it originally sold for around $10,500 with the extras like the top box, box liner and what ever else came with the Highline package, I think it was the heated grips, heated seat with rear controls, tire pressure monitor. I don't know if they are still optional on the new models.

I have a group of HD acquaintances who will not let me ride with them. For real. They basically rolled their eyes and laughed when they discovered it was a scooter. Once I saw that my sentiment was "screw em." It was that group who wasn't secure in their masculinity.

You don't want to ride with them anyway - they go too slow.

If you have a C650 GS you have a one of a kind and I would get it and hold onto it, you would have the only one

I actually chased down a HD rider on the freeway who flipped off me and my riding pal as he passed us. My buddy, a 90 year old Marine, was riding his Silverwing and I was on my GT. We caught him and passed him at a bit more than 100mph and waved at him as we went past. It'd been real embarrassing if a trooper had caught us at that speed (otherwise empty freeway section). A pair of old dudes, 74 and 90 acting the fools. But damn satisfying. That HD guy was leaning down as low as he could go with his ape hangers. Looked like the leather thongs on the grips were trying to beat him to death. I don't know which HD model it was other than it wasn't a Sportster.

BTW - The ladies usually like the GT better. But only because it IS better.

It is kinda funny that a couple senior citizens felt they had to show anyone up after such a minor incident. As a senior myself, I also have to plead guilty to a similar mis-deed (not versus a Harley, however). Yah kinda just shake your head afterward and realize that maturity and age are not at all times 100% correlated.

Note....It isn't the badge on the bike that makes anyone a jerk. That guy was a knuckle head long before he got on a Harley.

Very true, I've ridden maxi's with my Goldwing buddies and various friends with all kinds of bikes including HDs. A couple of them had doubts I could keep up. Ha! They got an eye opener and had a lot more respect for my scooter after that. A couple of them have downsized to Silverwings since then. Back when I got my first bike, a '49 Triumph Thunderbird (650CC) that size engine was considered quite adequate. Now it seems a lot of bikes including my last Goldwing at 1.8L is more the norm. It didn't take me long to see that the 650 is still a good sized engine even for freeways. I got the itch to buy a nice '94 K1100TL recently but didn't. My scooter is shaping up to be my last bike. Nothing wrong with that either.

I actually had the opposite experience on the 1200 mile return leg of a trip to Wrigley Field a couple of years ago. I was hoofing it down the highway in IL and noticed a motorcycle in my mirrors. It was a long way back but it changed lanes every time I did. I slowed down to let him catch up (also afraid it was a moto-cop). Turns out it was the guy on a beautiful custom chopper that I had given a thumbs up to as I passed him 15 minutes earlier. He chased me down (as best he could) just to give me a thumbs up in return and then pulled off at the next exit. Just goes to show, it's the rider not the brand.
