Bmw c600 sport questions

Hi guys
Recently I've purchased a brand new c600 from 2013- yeah it's 2016 now:)
I have 450 miles on it right now. About to go for the first service.

I have couple of questions before I go to the dealer.
The computer seems to be off. Temperature shown on the dash is always +10 degrees than the actual outside temp and it goes up as I ride..
I get very bad mpg of 31.9 mpg. And it doesnt move even when I ride on a highway.
The real time consumption starts to show numbers after 15mph. Before it's just dashes, I thought it doesn't work.
i also might have some problems with the cvt. It needs 3500-4000 rpm when taking off. With passanger even more. And it's a disaster riding between 20-30 mph. It's surging even on steady throtle.
That's all for now. I don't have much experience with cvt bikes and I would appreciate your help.

Thanks
Ben

I could say a lot but better to just say you obviously have a few things going wrong here. Better to get it back into the dealership soon as it seems they didn't do the pre delivery well or at all. Revs are about 2,500 to get moving when behaving and I think you should be closer to 50+mpg.

Thanks for your reply Coiln.
Yeah, there are probably a lot of problems.
I use 89octane fuel with 10% ethanol. As recomended in the manual.
Do you think that can cause some problems? I can't find non ethanol fuel here in Nyc.

Some others my have n opinion on the ethanol but I have had no issues when I have had to fill up on the same on trips. It certainly is not the main issue on the high revs before pickup. That's likely mechanical and a clutch problem. Once you get it into the dealer they can plug it in and do the analysis. It could be that resetting some things while plugged in could cure temperature issue but that has been the subject of many posts here on this forum. Mine is out quite a bit from day one and never gets close except on longer trips where there is better air flow around the sensor.
Overall if your not used to a CVT I would not be doing much city riding until the scoot is checked out. High revs and stop and go traffic are not the best/safest riding conditions.

Thanks for your reply Coiln.

If this bike has been sitting around for a while could there have been gas in the tank? If so it would have gone bad and gummy clogging this up. As for the electronics all it may need is a new software download.

As for the gas you use the octane level in North America is 91 or higher

Will a fuel system cleaning do it?

FYI: I've been using 89 octane since the day I got my 2013 C650GT. 24K miles now and no issues like the one the OP mentions. FWIW, his symptoms sound similar to the ones I had with my 2009 Yamaha TMAX when the mechanics replaced the CVT belt and didn't adjust everything properly afterward...

Thanks guys for your help.
I hate dealing with the dealerships. I'm sure they will say everything is fine.
At least now I'm sure I have some problems so I could be specific with them.
I'll also ask them to demo the new 2016 c650 and feel the difference.
This is my first bike and I have no idea how it should run but I definitely felt that something is wrong.
Hopefully it will be fixed under warranty.
Thanks
Ben

Hey Ben, Get it plugged in and cleaned out like the guys said and I bet you'll be A-OK. Let us know how it goes.

As I thought!
Today I had my first service at 600 miles, 400$:)
I addressed all the issues and they say it's all fine.
Contacted BMW of north America.
They want me to go back for a detailed diagnosis and also to find another dealership for a second opinion.
And from there we will see what's gonna happen.

BMW picking up the tab for the second opinion or are they saying it is warranty work? I hope you have another dealer near by.

Hey guys
I'm back.
As I was expecting, BMW of Manhattan after checking the motorcycle for 2 weeks said everything is fine with it.
Won't go there no more!! Wouldn't recommend this place to nobody.
Still have the same issues with the bike.
It seemed better when I took it after two weeks standing there and after a day everything back!
When it's on the center stand it vibrates a lot. You can feel the vibrations also when standing. My arms are moving.
Mirrirs are also vibrating, especially the left one.
I don't know if this is normal or I'm crazy:)
Mpg went up a little bit because I did 90 miles highway trip. After riding 2 hours 55-65mph steady it went to 39mpg. Which is still very low I think. Now is back to 36mpg.
Planning to go to a dealership in NJ soon, even though I'm tired of this. Leaving the bike and waiting for couple of weeks.
Disappointed of BMW:(
Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Thanks
Ben

If you only have 600 miles on it, it needs to break in some, to up your mileage. What kind of gas are you using, octane? The rough idle might be caused by poor quality fuel. Put some StarTron or Sea Foam in it. Of course you might get more vibes with a wheel off the ground, on the center stand.
When breaking in a motor you should vary your speed up and down , a highway cruise isn't best. Do some back road hilly tours.

When my original dealership closed I was forced to take my bike to BMW Manhattan. They were fast, and they were relatively convenient (being easy walking distance from the subway station) however, in my experience, they weren't very good. The mechanic who used to service my bike was employed by the new dealership that opened up on Long Island (BMW of New Hyde Park, or Gold Coast Motorsports) and despite going through a rough patch recently when they changed ownership, he is still there and taking good care of my motorcycles.

200,000+ miles on my 1999 K1200LT and now 24,000+ miles on my 2013 C650GT. They also recently took on the Zero brand, which is where I picked up my 2016 Zero S.

Thanks for your reply Snowdog.
I have 1050 miles so far.
I use 89 octane fuel, usually from BP. I`ve tried 91 once without any difference.
Yes I already use Seafoam, the last two fill ups. I haven`t noticed any improvement though.
I think I`m getting the same vibes with wheel off or on the ground. When waiting on a red light I can feel my arms shaking:)
Got the ram brake mount the other day and when shooting a video with the phone you can see the picture vibrating.
Didn`t mentioned that the foot rests are getting very hot. I feel the warmth thru my sneakers...
Yeah tire pressure Is probably low. It was 39-37 and on my first service at BMW they lowered down to 32-31.
Should I go back to 39-37 since I think that is the recommended tire pressure?

I was planning to go to NJ Cross Country BMW I think was the name, for a second opinion.
I might go to Gold coast since you`ve had a good experience with them for a long time.

Recommended tire pressures are on a sticker under the saddle (in the luggage compartment). For solo riding on my C650GT, it is 32F/34R (if I recall correctly). Pressure recommendations change based on whether you're carrying a passenger, luggage, or both.

Maybe you have a sticky injector. Or mice chewed into a wire. Could be lots of things. Tough to evaluate rough running without feeling it.
