C400 GT - Connectivity Issues - Contacts Not Showing

Hi All,

I am really frustrated and am not sure how to go about my problem.

I am using a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 (Android) and have connected it to my bike. Everything works except that my contacts do not show on the phone. It just shows "Updating Contacts" on the screen.

I went to the service station and did a software update on the bike. I have even factory reset my phone, reinstalled the BMW Connected App allowed all the permissions to the app, and reconnected it to the bike, yet it still persists.

I paired my partners Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 (Android) and it shows his contacts.

I am unable to understand where the problem lies or what else should I try.

If someone can help out, that will be great.

I feel your pain. Mine won’t pair up even though it says its name on TFT. Must be something in the set up BMW can’t have this many probs with there software can they?

Mine happily takes phone calls but when I try to use the navigation and media functions it will not recognise the app. Most frustrating as it was working fine till two days ago.

Go into your phone, go into settings, go to applications, then go into the connected app settings (in android OS not the BMW connected application itself). ensure permissions on the app (within android OS) are set to allow contacts. Once you are sure your phone will allow the app to use contacts go back to the connected app and click the icon to open it and select allow contacts.

You are telling the phone to allow the application to access to access your contacts…permissions are required at both the system level and the application level. Looks like this in an iPhone. IMG_3888.png

Finally sorted out my android phones issue. Turn on the app, connect bluetooth then check on the phone in your bluetooth sttings what permissions the bike has. Mine had media turned off, even though it previously had been on. Something (bike, phone, another app?) had disabled it.

That is kind of what I was trying to say. Two levels of permissions; one on the phone's operating system, the other in the application that sits on top of the phone's operating system. The app cannot change permissions on the phone without you authorizing it, and sometimes with you telling the phone how to treat the app.

Yep, you gave me the clue. In android the control is specific to the link to the bike though. So not obvious until you look for it.
