Front tyre wear

Had the bike for almost a year and had its first service (10,000 km) since the run in service. Very happy with it but the front tyre is almost worn. Metzler ! Is this normal ? Any recommendations for a longer wearing tyre ?

I went through 2 sets of Metzelers on my C650GT and each set was good for 6000-6500 miles, maybe could have stretched them but getting thin and irregular wear. I put a set of Michelin Road Pilot 4 on it and when I sold it they had about 6000 miles on them and I figured they were good for at least another 2000-4000 miles. In my 30+ years of automobile background I rarely saw high mileage on Michelin car tires but I was impressed with the Michelin motorcycle tires so I would recommend the Road Pilot 4’s.

I got about 5000 out of my first front tire, a bit more on the rear. I'm now on the third front tire with only 12000miles on the bike and just about ready for a third rear tire. I'm also on my third set of those little "curb feeler" things on the the center stand that hit the road when you're working the twisties. I replaced the original ones with a bolt and stack of washers to get the same ground clearance. I keep the monoshock set for maximum spring pressure to get as much road clearance as I can which does cut down the wear of those little gizmos a good bit.

Road Pilot 4 fitted. Will see how it goes - was a good deal cheaper than the Metzler so its winning so far

I have had the Metzelers, Pirellis and Michelin PR4s on my GT. Of these, I think the Pirellis had the nicest handling. The Michelin's have lasted well and are quite good in the wet (I ride to work). Metz were ok but didn't impress me in any particular area.

You'll definitely get less wear from the front than the rear. My last several front tires have been Michelin City Grip and I can get around 7k miles from them.

Every 6k I replace front and back. My cargo is too important. ME! Metzler always, best grip all day!
