Thanks Folks for the welcomes!
James, PM me and we'll exchange info regarding your Dad and I. I was raised in Webb City and I am over there all the time, maybe he and I can have coffee there and talk scoots!
I don't know about the "Wobbly" 650 Burgman as I am on my third one and never experienced any negative handling on the Cheeseburgers.
Here's my scooter lineup, past and present: New 2002 Yamaha Zuma 50cc, 2 stroke, new 2003 Honda Reflex 250 ABS, new 2003 Burgman 650, new 2003 Aprilia Atlantic 500, Used 2007 Burgman 650, New 2009 Yamaha T-max 500, two new 2009 Yamaha Zuma 125's, a used 2005 (Current) Burgman 650 and a 2013 Kymco Xciting 500RI ABS (Current). I just sold my 2012 Goldwing a few weeks ago.
I want to buy another new maxi-scooter as soon as it gets warmer so I can ride comfortably!!!! The Kymco is for sale now on Craigslist and the new scoot will replace it. In the running are 3 Maxi scooters: A new BMW C600, new Honda Silver Wing (2012) or another 2014-15 Burgman 650.
I went to a BMW dealer in Bentonville, Arkansas a few weeks ago and sat on a DEMO 2011 C600 and liked it! It was about 20 degrees that morning so no test ride for me! I found this odd though, none of the Recalls had be performed and there were a bunch, like the Cam Chain tensioner, side stand switch and a multi function switch (?) to name a few. So if you buy the scoot do you have to wait a week for the work to be done??
Another weird thing, in talking to the owner that I'd known for a long time, was that almost all of the bikes on his showroom floor couldn't even be sold because of NHTSA recalls and factory service bulletin's/ "stop ride notices," that had no parts available to even fix the bikes. He admitted that BMW has serious problems right now.
I am a BMW fan, however, and have had 5 BMW's from R's to K's and my favorite, a fantastic 1999 R1100GS. Although I never had any real problems with them, I've been put off over the years with the factory's lack of a real quality control dept. The purchaser becomes the QC dept and sorts out the problems as the Dealer (Stuck in the middle) and the oh so arrogant Parent CO tries to call defects "Owner abuse."
What I really like about the C600 is what looks like the easiest rear wheel removal that I have ever seen! I do my own work and a rear wheel removal on all scooters is a real pain in the---back
This and this alone will probably make me buy a BMW scoot this time----if, all of the problems/ recalls have been rectified.
