I have come to one inescapable conclusion.

Yep, I never save gas riding a scooter or motorcycle because it's always a lot longer road to get to where you're going on one. All the local stores are further away on a two wheeler.

Kinda hard to explain to those that don't do it, but feeling as if you're "flying" is the stuff of which dreams are made.

I used to fly, owned several airplanes over the years. I also used to sail and had a couple good sized sailboats. The all share some of the dynamics of riding a motorcycle or scooter. Both bank or lean in turns, aren't dead machines like a cage but lively and react sensitively to the pilot, skipper or rider. Lots of similarities. I don't have an airplane or boat any more but don't feel too badly having my scooter which gives similar riding pleasures.

I'm with you 100% Exavid. As a commercial pilot and flight instructor who's not been in the business since 9/11. My two wheelers fill the gap fairly well where the aircraft left off.

Yesterday the fellow who bought my K1100LT picked it up. So now my garage has but one bike, my GT. I hate to admit it but I really prefer riding the GT over a motorcycle these days. I've done the shifting thing on bikes for over 55 years and find I really like the twist and go. The riding position of this scooter is more comfortable for old knees, and it's darn hard not to like all the convenient features, like not having to crawl on the floor to check tire pressure which I now do before every ride thanks to the TPM and ditto for the built in oil check. This GT will definitely be my last bike and I hope it lasts until I can't ride any more. It took me a while to really appreciate this scooter but I think BMW has a winner in the GT and sincerely hope sales are good enough in the "macho" US market to keep them coming.
