Maintenance Schedule

anybody see any schedule for these things? the owner's manual just makes it sound like "annually", but no schedule as far as valve adjustments, etc.
i'm guessing they are supposing we won't put a lot of miles on annually??? what about us 10K'ers?
i'd really like to see a schedule somewhere!

Spoke to a tech today and he said the valve adjustment is at 24000 miles and he didn't seem to concerned if you went over that by thousands of miles

My technician told me I was fine with 30,000 miles however the performance might start to deteriorate if you go over that.

my tech said along with the belt change at 12K, the chain and sprocket will need replacing at that time, too. he said sport bikes typically have their chains and sprockets replaced every 10K, so maybe that makes sense? and it doesn't sound like the belt is easy to get to. he thought maybe BMW underestimated the fact that many of their scooter customers are going to be converts from their other bikes and put lots of miles on. sounds like these service intervals may be bit pricey???

The chain/sprocket in in a SEALED housing with an oil bath. Wear will be MINIMAL if at all. The "Tech" seems to be unaware that it is NOT an exposed chain system...oops.

I have all the schedules in my possession but had difficulty uploading them. I have sent them to webbikeworld.com and he has put them on his site as of today December 19. When you see a number before the item in the list that is for the dealer to recognize if the item has been done previously

The basics are Maintenance Schedule BMW C 650 GT & Sport

1,000km (Running-in service) (600 mile)
- engine oil + filter + set strainer

10,000km (Engine oil service) (6000 mile)
-engine oil + filter

20,000km (Minor service) (12000 mile)
-engine oil + filter, CVT belt + roller bearings, air filter and etc.

30,000km (Engine oil service) (18000 mile)
-engine oil + filter

40,000km (Major service) (24000 mile)
-engine oil + filter, gearbox oil, rear axle oil, air filter, spark plug, CVT belt + roller bearings, chain + sprockets, gaskets + oil seals + O-rings and etc.

I had my 600 mile 1st service on my c600 at my dealer. $248.00 seems a bit excessive. What have others paid?

I know on other bikes that I have owned the 1st service should take about an hour or and hour and half if it is done properly and they do what there suppose to do check brakes and pads oil and filter tires all bolts screws etc lube all moving parts tie in to computer and check for any reports from the computer about the running of the bike do any up dates to the cpu and reinstall all the tupper wear so $228.00 isn't to bad

Yeah, does anyone happen to have a real schedule? I've been told multiple different things from mechanics. And some different stuff just on these posts. Has anyone seen a real schedule, based on mileage and all that?

I had mine done today and it was 209.03 in Mtn View California

Here is what my breakdown was

Labor/Shop time 145.08
Crush Ring 1.00
Oil 15w50 3qts 32.85
Oil Filter R12,C6, K12 16.00
Oil Pickup Pipe 8.95
Cal Tax 5.15

Just had my first service done here in Fort Worth, TX and total came out to 252.74
Shop/Labor 138.60
4 quarts of BMW oil 71.96 (17.99 a quart) Wow!
Oil filter 16.9
Seal (crush washer I'm assuming) .99
Mine went through a software update to the instrument panel. Delivered to the dealership beginning of May 2013.
Shop supplies of 15.50. I did't see a charge for the oil strainer so I think this is it (I hope).
Tax 8.70.
It seems to run smoother and hoping my mileage goes up a little. I'm averaging about 50 mpg with mixed highway and city driving.

$17.99 per quart is well expensive. I wouldn't pay that much, considering here in California I was only charged 10 bucks. Yesterday I went out to the airport and was quoted around $10 or so per quart for AeroShell 15w-50. I think that Ill be switching out to AeroShell going forward. Its FAA approved and has a great service history, it also has Lycoming LW 16702 antiwear additive added to the oil, that stuff is much like AvBlend (Z-Max) or Camgaurd which are very popular oil additives that many pilots will swear by. I'm using AvBlend in my bike and so far have not noticed any negative effects, but I'm hoping that the cams and lifters ect will be better protected.

I was quoted $280 as well. Its just an oil change. I just bought 4 quarts of the oil and filter at the dealer and changed it myself. Its pretty easy.

Filter was $15
Oil was $10 per quart.
