Multiple question for newly aqcuired 2016 Sport

Hey, finally upgraded and managed to get hold of a C650 Sport 2016 (32k km). Condition is ok, but there are some cosmetic parts that are a bit worn or faded.

HANDLEBAR
First of all, the handlebars and buttons have significant sun fading, the colours and markings have started to wear off. Is this reasonable to replace? Can imagine original parts for this would cost a fortune. Anyone have experience with refreshing the handlebar and buttons? Not only the plastic, but I'd like to replace the rubber grips too, even the bar end caps/plugs. Any suggestions for bad end caps/plugs?

WINDSHIELD
The windshield at top most position is a bit too short for me, as insects hit my helmet (not used to this with the high windscreen on my previous scooter). Ordered GIVI D5121ST replacement, anyone have experience with that? Should be 71cm tall, or ca 10 cm taller than stock. Couldn't find much other alternatives for touring wind screens.

TOP CASE
The bike also came without a top case. BMW original looked a bit small, so I went with GIVI (again) for a 47l box, however it required several other parts including rack, m5m plate and I wanted a backrest for passenger too. My main concern was that the rack didn't look very pretty so perhaps I will leave the top case on at all times? My previous scooter had a better looking back rest which didn't stand out so much with the top case off.

PASSENGER REAR GRAB RAILS
The biggest "problem" right off the bat was that my hook straps which I use for a "sausage" bag over the passenger seat didn't fit the passenger rear grab bars very well! A bit disappointed as my previous (smaller) scooter had quite excellent handlebars in metal with a concave curve (semi hollowed out) on the bottom/inside of the bars for hooks to hang on to. On my C650 the handlebars are plastic, smaller, less comfortable and the strap hooks don't fit well. The straps can also be too tight to easily loop around the bars for the hook to grab its own strap instead. Are there any good replacements for these passenger grab bars?

REAR WHEEL HUGGER / MUDGARD / FENDER
No protection against road dirt from the rear wheel? Looking for tips, preferably something that looks good and is easy to install. Something similar to this:

Other than these minor cosmetic nuances I'm pretty happy. Looking for inspiration and tips on how to refresh/renew a medium worn bike.

Welcome aboard. This bike is discontinued, so I would imagine parts will be less available and probably more expensive. It's a BMW after all. Aftermarket parts for this bike are also hard to find, so things like hugger fenders or grab bars are things I havent ever seen. I do have an aftermarket screen on mine, but it isnt the GIVI so I cant help with that. It does do a better job then the OEM screen at keeping the wind off on the highway.

Yeah I figured that out eventually 😪 It's really sad how the biggest scooters are slowly dying. Big burgman is gone, the 800cc one is long gone, C650 is discontinued as you say. Only the big Forza left, which is more of a motorcycle in disguise than a scooter IMO. I sold my XMAX 300 to try the BMW C650, but was disappointed how bad the aftermarked parts availability was. For XMAX there are tons of parts to buy for cheap. Was looking at rear fender and I could only find 2 brands completely unknown to me, "ermax" and "bodystyle". Both of which cost insane amount of money, around 150€!!! For a small piece of plastic to screw on the back of the bike?!?

Must be a common issue? I too just picked up a 2016 C650 Sport and, although it only has a little over 1k miles, it too has been cosmetically neglected. Let me know if you found a fix for the faded handlebars and buttons? My plan was to use Black Magic restoration polish on all of the thrashed black plastic components, and I am waiting on a seat cover replacement from Luimoto as my seat was ripped and faded super bad as well.

Thanks!

"Back to black" on Amazon worked pretty well on my C600.

A few updates, I got the GIVI windscreen, fits perfectly and they obviously custom designed it as it aligns just besides the mirror stems perfectly. One problem was I lost one of the splice nuts into the bike and never found it again. Need to find a replacement for that some time, but it's firmly attached even without one of the splice nuts missing. Really fiddly to reach into the "inside" or backside of the screen and secure screws. Next up was GIVI top box. Happy with the result, but it too was fiddly. Removed a side fairings to get a better view inside to see where to bolt it on. Small hook on the inside broke off due to plastic being old and brittle. Turns out it didn't make a difference and it got reattached nicely with some screws anyway. Had to cut off a small square plastic part on both sides covering the frame nut beneath the rear end. But that wasn't enough and had to cut a few mm of additional plastic too. Other than that it worked fairly well. Looks ok. Finally I got the real expensive rear wheel mud guard today. And that was a pain! Looked very simple with only requirements to bolt onto 2 existing screws, one of which secures the cables on the swingarm, the other is deep down in the back. One of the metal brackets was too long and I had to clip it a few mm to fit. The other small metal mounting piece broke because it was almost impossible to work in the confined space. Luckily had a spare screw and nut that fit and used that instead. All in all happy with the result, but very fiddly and mistakes were made.

The only failure was some puig rubber grips I ordered, didn't want to replace them myself in fear of damaging the heating cables beneath. Repair workshop said it didn't fit, so I probably end up paying full price for new original grips some time later. No idea what to do with the faded handlebar plastic and buttons yet. Other than that I only want to replace the bar ends.

Nice! Glad to hear that it is coming along for you (albeit with some frustration). How much were the hand grips? Do you have pics of the rear mud guard installed?
I used black magic on my faded handle bars/plastic areas and it came out well. I also changed out my seat cover…and installed a Remus exhaust and am pretty jazzed. I will attach some before/after pics:

I just randomly ran across this rack on eBay:

Looks like it might fit your bill? To be clear, I have no experience with the rack, just happened upon it while browsing for other C farkles.
