Had my wife on the back of the GT for the first time last night. She has been a long time passenger aboard my K1200LT and whatever else happens to be sharing garage space with it as the years go by (I've had the LT since 1999 and it is currently in the shop for a 6,000 mile interval service at 174,000 miles).
The last "other occupant" of the garage was a 2009 Yamaha XP500YY TMAX. Although she liked it, she was never really comfortable on it. She didn't like the foot pegs provided for the passenger as well as their location. She also complained about how WIDE that thing was for the passenger.
The GT has floorboards for the passenger, and she is much more comfortable with those. She also finds the hand rails better positioned and the accommodations don't splay her out like she's visiting the gynecologist. I should note we had the passenger back rest on the TMAX, but (right now) we don't have a backrest on the GT.
