Hello BMW-scooters.com

I registered today as I'm beginning my search for a BMW scooter. I currently own a Vespa LX150, it's nice and I like it, but I'm wanting something with more power for longer distance riding.
I was in Tucson yesterday at a store named Iron Horse and I sat on the C650 GT and it was one of those memorable experiences when you know a bike just fits.

Time to start researching the bikes. I'll be buying second-hand most likely. Wish me luck. :)

Hi All
I've had my 2014 C650GT since about Aug 2014. Just now logging in officially. I'm using the scoot to commute to work, at least until I can cross the finish line and really retire! Cant wait. Taking my first long distance trip end of June. So now in the hunt for a top case: soft luggage or hard case, like maybe a GIVI or something. I have the BMW luggage grid, not sure which top cases will mount to that. Hope my only choices are not BMW Motorrad - lots of configuration choice there that add up the costs.

Anyway I'll be adding photos soon and probably be more active on this great forum.
Thanks for all of your great posts here!

Glad you joined up. Planning the trip no doubt is a blast. Adding a top case seems redundant to some, but is a great idea for trips and also as a backrest for any passengers. I also like the idea of having a second helmet and jacket storage bin.

I assume since you already have the mount, you are kinda stuck with the BMW case. You know the color coded, same key as ignition top case. BMW top case is actually very nice. Make sur you pay the extra $100 for the pad

Hi. I'm Sy from Duluth, GA outside of Atlanta .... Thank you for starting this forum. I think I am only one in Georgia with C600. It is my daily driver. This is an incredible scooter. For 6 years I rode a Vespa 200 GT but I love this scoot.

Hi, First post here. Former MP3 250 owner(5 years), who found a killer (to me) deal on a 2013 C650GT with 1500 miles. So traded the old for the new. It will be my daily driver. I really like it, except for the stock windscreen. New AirFlow is on order. Look forward to getting to know you guys.

Welcome to our chaos. Bunch of great folks here who know a thing or two about PTWers of all sorts. Beautiful part of the country you're in to own a CGT.

Trouble in scooter paradise

Hello, I'm just west of Chicago, IL and purchased my 2014 C650GT last year. The first 1800 miles were fabulous but then the trouble began. It was stuttering, shaking and reving up on take off and around slow corners, in town. The BMW shop near here just finished replacing the primary exterior disk, spacer sleeve, roller weights, guide bar and several small items. I picked it up at their shop yesterday afternoon and it ran perfectly for 16 miles and is now doing the same thing. Unless my maximum trip length is under 16 miles this isn't going to be my favorite. I own and have owned a 100/7, 1200C, and K1200 and never had any problems.

I believe your experience is not typical but that is no help when you're having the problems. Have you taken it back to the dealer?

Chuck from Calgary Alberta.
Picked up a2012 demo C650GT in January of 2013, I might have been the first one in Calgary. My favorite expression has become this ain't your grandmas Vespa. Wanted something heavy enough to ride the BIG roads the 650 handles it with no worries, except for perhaps excessive right hand twist.
doesn't seem to matter w

thanks for the sight its a great idea with lots of input.

Here the funny one, BMW Fixed it, I have had my left mirror lens fall off twice and the left one once. The dealer says he has never seem it happen before let alone 3 times

Hello Dennis. I'm Van and just signed up to the site as I will be taking possession of my 2016 C 650 GT tomorrow! It will be a tough first ride as it will be quite cold and Saturday no better (25 degrees with 40 mph winds). I'll still manage to take a short trip - who wouldn't with a new toy!

This will be my first maxi-scooter. I had a Zuma 50 for the past 5 years and after moving decided to commit to a serious upgrade. I considered several different options for my two-wheel transport (in no particular order: Vulcan 650 S ABS, CTX, Volt, Shadow, Iron 883, etc.) I was all over the board, but after doing my due diligence it came down to what works best for me! I love the commute and convenience of a scooter and still wanted the motorcycle performance. I could care less about the shifting as I have been down that path before.

I will share with others that I went to great lengths to get the best riding gear and settled on an Aerostitch R3 and a Motoport Air Mesh jacket with pants. I live 20 minutes from where Aerostitch is so it was easy to try on and get fit. By the same token my experience with Wayne at Motoport was just as positive. I bought both suits for different reasons beyond protection. When I have riding time in both suits I will be sure to come back and provide an update.

I'm excited to be a member and look forward to communicating with all of you. Ride safe and have fun!

Welcome m, your riding background sounds a lot like mine. I did 8 years and 10,000 miles on a Yamaha Vino 125 before getting my GT last year. Many years riding off-road but that was the beginning of my street riding. I know you'll enjoy your GT. It's a bit of a weight and power shock (as in pulling up to a parking spot with a slight incline and trying to walk it backward into it :p ) but I like mine more and more every day.
