Rattling noise from chain

2020 c650gt 2500 miles on it and bought it new with 0 miles..
when I start the scooter I let it warm up for about 1 min but when I start celebrating is a big rattling noise coming from I guess from chain. After 20 minutes riding it is all normal. A friend of mine has a C6 50 sport and it does the same thing.
is this normal or I should be looking for something?

I had a loud rattle on my F650 many years ago. The dealer, not being used to chains, tried many things to no avail, and then found a frozen link (i.e. a link had seized up). Your problem may be different in that it is not permanent - but when the chain is cold you could try flexing each link in turn - rotating the wheel as necessary and see if they are all freely moving. It could be that it frees up when warm. No amount of oiling would help in my case and they fitted a new chain.

I had the same issue sent it back to BMW they stripped the drive housing and changed the clutch I think… they showed me a invoice for £2500 and said it was covered under warranty… was fine for a year and staying to do the same thing again now… I’ll probably trade it

Why can’t bmw figure out their timing chain issues on all their products? This engine isn’t even made by bmw but still suffers same defect.

There is a chain, it's in an oil bath on the left side of the bike, at 2500 miles it shouldn't need an adjuster guide. Should probably check the lube level first, if it's good drain the lube and check chain tension, roll the chain around and see if sprockets are loose and that chain is moving as it should and tracking straight, there is a sight window that allows for checking chain tension, but you're looking for the cause of a noise.

Hope it’s not the cam chain tensioner? They did a recall couple yrs ago n hopefully solved this as most scoots rattling went on and on! They have now removed a magnet in the head which new if threw out the timing and set the automatic engine shut down to protect? Stupid idea? By the way ! The scoots are made In Korea n built up in Germany ( using nasty cheap metal ?) some one told me they now make the cam chain tensioner in Germany 🇩🇪 hopefully they will now last a while!

On mine it was the cam chain tensioner.. Replaced and the rattle was gone immediately. Now on taking off I have a shutter when the bike is cold, it could be the clutch. I have almost 15k miles on it.

I had that same chain tensioner noise n it got so LOUD that 1 day n the Wild West Motoplex
fixed the problem. My bike is a 2016 and i had that noise starting about 3.500 miles C650GT
BMW would NOT make a recall on it so it cost me a bit. But now the BIKE runs
smoother n better

FIXING A SHUDDER ....

Trick I learned with Honda Silver Wings for fixing shudder. Hold rear brake tightly and turn throttle slowly until bike wants to move, hold for two or three seconds and let go of throttle. Repeat if necessary.

Technically, I believe this deglazes the variator so the belt moves smoothly. Shudder results from glaze built up by gentle, smooth accelerations -- which you would think are a good thing! Because I accelerate this way, I get build-up, and now do this little trick before every ride (2019 C 650 GT). When I do, the shudder is gone before I start. When I don't, the shudder disappears after two minutes of riding. I like having full power from the beginning.

What they have done is! They have taken off a small magnet on the cam cover? This was also a conflicting issue alongside the chain tensioner! It was designed to cut the engine in emergency! In that if cam timing was slightly off no damage would be done to tappets? Engine management light would appear and it would stop engine run? They had to many complaints of this coming on ! Hence it’s no longer on new scoots or any they recalled! I believe they have now made a tensioner out of German steel instead of Korean trash ! Some one said in a bike magazine that the Korean trash had a burr on them due to stamping during manufacturing! Anyway back to the judder upon set up! Mine done this ever since the replacement? I put higher octane fuel in and it cured the prob! Know as as Engine knock? The 1200 boxer engine did same knock until I changed fuel? Only snag it’s lot dearer! But? You do get slight better MPG so that helps ! Hope this helps you and works fir you too! Let me know please as I’m interested!

I have that slight shuddering when i take off at a slow speed. from 3 mph to about
13 mph it feels like it hesitates Either the chain is a lil loose or something else is making
it shudder at that speed. I have noticed it a lot. Delray i tried that giving the throttle a
lil twist while holding the brake n that did not work. I tried that 2 times with no success
The glazing on the belt on the SilverWing did that hesitate n that took the dust off the
belt
