Steering Head Bearings

At around 12,000 miles my bikes steering started shaking when slowing down if the handlebars were not firmly held, this has been fixed by changing the steering head bearings.

As the standard bearings are cup and cone, taper rollers sized 30 x 55 x 17mm (NTN 32006) were used as replacements, these should provide an increased service life. The forks were checked and found to be OK and rebuilt using 40 x 52.2 x 10/10.5mm seals, 40 x 52mm dust seals and new oil.

I am getting ready to do this upgrade. Curious - what was used as a dust cover to keep out the elements? These bearings are subject to water and dirt on the lower end. The original might work, though not ideal.
