Stop-Sell order issued..

My parts guy informed me of a stop-sell condition on 650s, where there is an issue with "front brake line(s)" at full left turn lock under "A condition" and may lead to stress.

There is a fix, it seems, but is still internal and only data listed in German he shows at this time.

Just FYI...another recall coming it seems.

Hi all, the news I had on the 2018s Stop Sell was gathered while I was trying to purchase a 2018 a week ago. On 8 March I was told that the new 2018 I was trying to get shipped in to Phoenix from Texas was no longer available because BMW had sent a letter out 3 days prior that was the "stop sell". I was unable to get the details but it was something to do with the front brakes. AND parts would not be available to fix the problem until at least June. As the discount on the 2018s from BMW NA was ending in May and BMW NA was not confirming that the discount would be extended because of the stop sell, I had to look for an alternative. Also, by Saturday 9 March all of the 2018s (aprox 16 in NA) that were listed at Cycletrader and at the individual dealer's websites had disappeared. Too bad - the prices were good. Ended up doing a good deal on a 2019, so worked out for me.

I was told the same by the dealer here in Portland, OR. I had scheduled to take my scooter in for service last week and when I took it in on Saturday was told of the brake line issue. They will not release the scooter to me until the repair is completed, which could be a couple of weeks or longer they said.

The dealer should give you a loaner, otherwise call BMW. If this is in fact a recall, BMW is required to provide you with a loaner if the repair lasts longer than 2 (not sure of exact number) days or if parts are not available.

You're welcome. ;)

This is odd. Because the Bmw system does not say stop ride only stop sale.

This is timely- I had just called my local shop (where I bought it... in Scottsdale, AZ) to schedule a "service" (oil change and some other super expensive thing they want me to pay them for) and they said there is a recall with the front brake line... and that he would order parts for it that should be in next week so we could just get it all done at once.

He didn't mention anything about not riding it... should I be worried??

Should be fine, its only under certain conditions at full left turn...

My dealer said no parts until late April at least...and customers cannot have the old part back.

I'm still waiting for the part to come in. Last time I asked, they said it was supposed to be here on the 10th. We shall see if I get a phone call today.

Just took my 2016 GT in to order (under warranty) a replacement trim piece for the right mirror stalk that must have fallen off and was told the same story. Was told my bike is part of this recall too but they neither have the parts nor instructions yet as to what to do. Soooo ... they'll call me when they do.

My recall part did come in last week and I have an appointment Friday to get the work done on it.

Good luck to all!

I just got my recall notice on my 2013 Friday. I could swear that I had this recall done on my original bike four or five years ago. And was supposedly done on the replacement by the original owner when he had it. Still waiting on the callback from dealer.

I'm going to ignore it. I traced my line to the splitter and it has no damage and does not get pinched during full-left deflection.

Me too, I checked the brake lines and frankly can't see how any could get pinched in any steering position.

Spoke with service manager, I was right. This 2019 recall is on a dec 2015 recall. Apparently either some scooters are still having problems or bmw decided that the original replacement parts were not as good as they thought. .??? While I have never had any problems with either scoot I will have the recall done when the parts come in. I hope to do a lot of traveling this summer and do not want to have trouble out on the road.
