Well that clicking noise has done the bike in. Yesterday i went to lunch n the clicking noise got so LOUD. I knew it was going to be
the end of the bike riding. Sure enough got back to my clients property turned off the bike and that was it. i had a bad feeling
when i turned off the key 1 last time. So about 5 hrs later i am done with work n tried to start the bike with no avail. I did put a battery
tender on it at my clients property. But all i got out of it turned over faster but the clicking noise is the problem. Back at the 6 k service
the BMW tech heard it as well n said it was something down around the crankshaft. That would have cost me right about $1.000 bucks
to get it repaired. This bike had everything i wanted on it but that issue was a BIG PROBLEM. I do LIKE the BMW but to costly. I only
had this bike for 1.5 yrs with only 8.368 miles on it That's SAD. When my brother gets my bike n brings it down to his place. We may as well
be parting this bike n selling the parts. Don't know when n how long it will take to start taking apart the bike.. So right now i am
without a vehicle to ride.. NOT another BMW. I will keep you all informed on the parts everything except the motor is all good.

This sounds like timing chain failure since you didn’t specify which year you have. 8k miles seems to be the right mark for this to fail. BMW is great if you maintain it properly otherwise if you want to just turn key and ride get a tmax.

Me bad i have a 2016 that had the 6K mile service done at the dealer. The BMW tech said it was NOT
the timing chain. I did have this Noise since around 3.500 miles. When i bought it had 2.200 miles on
it. The bike ran perfect til around the 3.500 mile then that clicking noise started along with the
hesitation

I wonder whether a good used engine could be found for a reasonable price.
Please do let us know if you find out what the problem was. Might even be as simple as a starter motor that was not properly disengaging and now failed.

I will keep you all updated as things progress. I have been thinking about this all day. I just
may get it repaired??? The BMW tech said at Wild West Motplex at 6 k service it would
cost about $1.000 to repair it. I do NOT know now cuz the motor will turn over but still
hear that clicking noise. I think it would be cheaper to fix it instead of buying another
bike for 3 K or more. So that's a option as well. I would have to talk with my brother
on that.

Well the bike went into the shop yesterday n they were able to start the bike up today
with no issue. The BMW Tech looked and found the problem. It was the chain tensioner
that had gone bad. So they are going to get the parts n fix it YAY. The Wild West motoplex
service guy said it would cost around $1.000 bucks or a lil more even if it was $1.500 with
labor n parts. He also stated that it could cost a lil more depending on how much time
it takes to get a PESKY bolt out. Thew bike IF not running would only be worth around
$600.00 or so give or take a few. They said the my bike should be fixed by next Friday
or so. So i am praying it will be fixed earlier then that:):):)

I’m getting ready to tackle this job in October on my scoot just having trouble finding video on this or instructions. I just might drop $1000 at the dealer to get it done and then reach out to BMW corporate to see if they can show some good will and cover the parts or something.

Do a search on this forum on how to get at the chain tensioner n the one PESKY bolt. IF
i was mechanically inclined i would have done it myself Plus i do NOT have the patients for
that stuff.

UPDATE TIME I just got a call from my dealer on the bike being fixed. FINALLY after 1 week of sitting in the shop they got it done today. Chain tensioner replaced. The cost of it is
$1.564 bucks. Then then BMW tech discovered that the oil sensor light on dash is faulty.
I am NOT going to have that fixed. I will check it out as i am riding it home on Thursday.
Cuz that sensor cost with labor $500.00 bucks. Good thing there is a dipstick on the
bike to manually check it out. When i brought the bike into the dealer it did not have
that issue. So makes me wonder IF that oil sensor is bad?????(y)(y)(y):):)

^ yea I’d like to see the bill details as well.

Did they retrofit the new style tensioner, Hydraulic?
Unfortunately NO they did NOT they put the reg. chain tensioner back in. I talked to the
service manager about this issue and he KNOWS about the issue of this tensioner
FAILING. I have been doing business with Wild West Motoplex for 2 decades n the same
service manager for this long. I asked him WHY didn't they put in the hydraulic tensioner
instead cuz BMW inc. KNOWS about the defect n should replace ALL CHAIN TENSIONER
problems with the HYDRAULIC FREE OF CHARGE

Same on my '16. When the chain tensioner failed, BMW replaced it under warranty with another mechanical one. Now that one is failing. I will replace it myself - $76 instead of the dealer's $1,564 ...
