When you come to a stop at a light hold your brake on ok If you see someone coming up behind you put your
CAUTION flashers on temporarily til they are stopped behind you. I want them to notice that i am STOPPED. After they
stopped turn off the flashers n hold the brake. this is just FYI Cuz i do not ever want to be rear ended by a car.

Not a bad idea.

I watch cars in my mirrors approaching from behind at stop lights maybe 8 of 10 times. The other times I just forget. I also leave enough space in front of me to move quickly if I have to.

I sold a Silver Wing to a guy who lost his leg from the knee down when he was on a motorcycle at a stop light and was hit from behind by a drunk driver. His bike was pushed forward into the back of a police car. With an artificial leg, the guy couldn't shift anymore, but he could still ride a maxi-scooter.

I've been bumped from behind at stop lights twice in the last few years. People absent-mindedly drift forward into the back of my bike. Each time, I put the kickstand down and got off to check for damage. Both times, I read them the riot act about getting their heads out of their you-know-whats. People invading my space when I'm on a bike makes me insane. Honestly, I'm surprised I didn't get shot, this being Florida and all.

I do leave enough space between me & cars about 5 ft. But then you get those A hats that will move into
that 5 ft spot for what reason i do NOT know. There was 1 time i was bumped from a car in a parking lot. I was
stopped on the silver wing n some guy behind me tapped my muffle. i got off the bike and pounded the hood
of his BMW car he n wife were in in i said pay attention to what you are doing. when going back to my bike
i pounded on his hood again HARD. I wanted to put a ding in his hood as a reminder.. So i just started using
my flashers til the people STOP behind me. Everyone should use their flashers IF they have them on
other bikes? I know a lot that do but IF they do NOT on crotch rockets they can LIGHTLY tap the brakes to
be seen better. But i know crotch rocket riders are to DANGEROUS.

Stop behind the car in front of you so you have a way out, I always angle a little to the safer side of the vehicle in front of me and watch my mirror, ready to move if I need to. I can see in my mirrors easier if I'm angled, I don't hold the front brake (a wheel that won't roll won't steer) and I want to see more that the car right behind me stopped, 2 to 3 cars behind that car can push them into you. Be aware, as my truck driving dad said "there isn't anyone more interested in you getting home in one piece than you are, so own it!"

In California we lane split like most of the world and I usually pull up between the cars all the way up front. Only another motorcycle could rear end me there.

Doing so would be illegal in the UK and many other countries.
'You MUST NOT use hazard warning lights while driving or being towed unless you are on a motorway or unrestricted dual carriageway and you need to warn drivers behind you of a hazard or obstruction ahead.'

You beat me to it.

There are far, far too many drivers who need reassurance about their importance.

You see them (delivery and taxi mostly) activating what we call hazard lights as they pull up kerbside. Doing so eliminates the ability to tell me what they are actually doing.

And 'I'm going to reverse into my driveway, with my brake lights and white reversing lights on, so I had better declare myself a 'hazard' too'. Worries me that if they think my observational skills are as poor as theirs.....

And, parking on a legal roadside parking bay, out of the flow.

Morons.

That's in the U.K. Not here in the U.S. I do use the hazards to warn people behind me that i am there. Also i
have the brake as well. It's a GOOD idea to be seen and then i turn them OFF when the car is stopped Cuz i do
NOT ever want to be rear ended

Using hazard lights randomly creates confusion.
They should be only used to warn of a genuine hazard.

That's DANGEROUS as hell i have seen many bikers do that then they haul ass from a start and do 90 mph
in a 35 mph have seen 1 Harley guy do it cuz he was speeding n could NOT stop in time or he would have
kissed the back end of a van cut in between the cars made a fast stop skidding a light then ran the RED light.
I shake my head when they pass me going fast lane splitting an cutting cars off n so on.

I do it to let people know i am here then the hazards go off w3hen stopped cuz i am also tapping
my brake handle. IF they do not like that they move from behind me i see em do it fine with me.

True but you know the people behind me know that i am there with the flashers on temporary. Just the other day
i was stopped n had the flashers on. A guy in his car came up n flashed his headlights to let me know he
saw me. So i turned them off when he stopped.. It's always a GOOD idea to let people know you are there
in front of them stopped

I use my flashers whenever someone is tailgating me, which happens often.

In NJ, it looks like you could be warned or ticketed for using flashers just because you're stopped at a traffic light. (I am not an attorney, and this is just my interpretation of the law).
The law is https://codes.findlaw.com/nj/title-39-motor-vehicles-and-traffic-regulation/nj-st-sect-39-3-54.html
and it says, in part,
"Flashing lights are prohibited on motor vehicles, motorcycles and motor-drawn vehicles except as a means for indicating a right or left turn;  provided, however, any vehicle may be equipped, and when required under this article shall be equipped, with lamps for the purpose of warning the operators of other vehicles of the presence of a vehicular traffic hazard requiring the exercise of unusual care in approaching, overtaking or passing, and when so equipped, shall display such warning in addition to any other warning signals required by law."
(emphasis added by me)
There is also the possibility that a driver is positioned to see only one of the bike's flashers, will assume a turn signal, and will cut across the bike's line of travel.
