Timing chain and other problems solved

Took my 2013 650 to the dealer for the chain recall at 5600 miles and noticed that the battery was not holding a charge. Yep the dealer did the necessary recalls and 6000mile service. He said that the battery was out of warranty since 4/9/2015. Grrrr. BMW is supposed to check a warranty claim. The dealer asked what float charger I used which was a Sears 2 amp battery tender through the lighter socket. He said that BMW wants to know before they will cover the warranty. I hope I don't get crap about the CanBus issue.

My front Metzler is also shot with cupping and uneven wear so it will be replaced. The rear is still relatively good. 5600 miles seems low for replacement but I saw the wear and will replace the tire and the battery. My life versus $210 installed = no decision.

Battery failed on my 2013 last fall and was replaced under warranty, no charge. Front tire was also worn and replaced at 5,300 miles. Sounds about average from what I'; reading.

I had only got 4700 miles on my first set of tires (metzlers) changed to Perilli and got 9000 miles from them

I only have about 4500 miles on my '13 GT. The rear tire looks good for maybe 7-8k total. The front still looks good but is well below 50% now. I have no chicken strips all the way out to the edges of the tread so I haven't been babying the bike. I like to twist the throttle and carve the curves. The battery is still holding up well, brakes looking good and she's not using oil either. So far so good. The mileage will build up faster now since I just sold my K1100LT which was sharing my riding miles with the GT.

So... I'm looking into tires and I thought I'd try the Metzlers. I can't find them at any of the normal on line sellers. Any idea on where to get them? I found the Diablos but I thought there must be something with better longevity. Any thoughts gentlemen?

Get Bridgestone Battlax SC-1 tyres out of Europe. They also make an SC-1 Ectopia that has lower rolling resistance and gets better mileage. If that's too much hassle, go with the Bridgestone Battlax OEM REAR tire, and the Battlax OEM FRONT tire for the Burgman 650. It cures the triangular wear on the front tire; same size but a wider, more rounded tougher tread profile, to handle the Burgman heft.

It was THE hot set-up on Spanish Tmaxes, and because of that, Bridgestone in the EU (and the entire REST of the frigging WORLD) now make ONE tire for the C600/650, Tmax530 and Burgman650, all with the Burgman radius profile...

That's what I'm doing when it's time to replace my Diablos...

How do the Bridgestone scooter tires work in the wet? I didn't like them on my Goldwing, on wet roads they were a lot more slippery than the Dunlop E3s I preferred.
