Where is the 2nd onboard power socket? ('20 GT)

The manual refers to an additional onboard power socket in the rear storage compartment. I am assuming it means the storage area under the seat, which I have looked over several times and can't find and indication of one being there. I would like to use it for trickle charger as it has already started snowing here in NM

I have a '17 and it was not installed. I had to buy one from BMW Part number 61347714741. Removing the right rear panel reveals a pre-wired connection for the socket. I had to drill a 16mm hole through the compartment shell and then simply fit the socket and attach the wiring. The place for the socket is marked and is to the right of the light from your photo. The rider's manual says using this socket is the only safe way to trickle charge with the battery in situ. Some people have attached a battery harness with an SAE connection point coming out from under the front right panel. Not being an electrician I was reluctant to use this solution. Hope this helps.

Thank you, I was afraid of that. Being brand new (bought about 3 wks ago) I am a little hesitant about what kind of modifications I can make without voiding the warranty. And not too happy to pay the exorbitant service fees of BMW. I've added a pigtail connection to my Aprilia scooter, so I feel competent to do it to the C650GT, but don't want to run afoul of my warranty.

I wouldn't worry about adding a 12v outlet and voiding the warranty. I added one above the left compartment so I could power the gps which has a cigar lighter type plug. You would have to do something really outrageous to cause some sort of failure that wouldn't otherwise have occured.

Note sure about the later models, but on the 2013 GT there is a power outlet connector underneath the plastic in the middle of the handlebars - it's ignition switched, and intended to power a GPS. The connector / lead assembly is common across many BMW models and isn't expensive. I've also fitted a charge lead to my bike - directly to the battery (with an inline fuse) which ends up with a flying lead in the right hand glove box. Works fine.

I've read about there being one under the BMW Medallion on the handlebar. I couldn't see any obvious way to access it other than prying the piece of plastic off. But since I wasn't sure of that I didn't want to break anything if I was wrong.

Could you give some help identifying, finding, and ordering the connector/lead assembly, please?

Not sure what qualifies as expensive. I bought the connector form my 09 R12RT and it was 25 bucks at the dealer. It was just the specialized connector with a 2 or 3 conductor lead IIRC. On the RT, the power for the GPS stayed on for about a minute and change after the bike was shut off. Not sure why they engineered it like that, but thats how it worked

My '14's digital display does that, also. Not the whole face, but just the clock and odo, IIRC without going out to look at it.
Nice to know about what's under the bars, so thanks.

It was a factory aftermarket option offered to me when I purchased my scoot
