My High Voltage battery is dead

So, last Wednesday I arrived home, with 12% of charge, and plugged the bike to charge it. Nothing happened, which sometimes happens. So what I do is hit the start button and it starts charging. This nothing happened, no display or anything, so I went for the fob and pressed the start button, nothing, hit it a couple of times and it finally started charging. Once it was fully charged, I took the fob to unplug the charger from the bike and I couldn't get it to turn on!!! I thought, how am I going to realize the charger so my wife could charge the car when she got home.
After a couple of tries, I was able to turn it on and the display has this warning in red.


That was the last of it. I haven't been able to get it to start and the Dealer has gotten back to me, I sent them all the information, but told me that they didn't have a High Voltage battery technician.

Has this happened to anyone.

I researched what the warranty on the battery was and the web and my body Chapt says it's 8 years or 100k miles.

The first thing I would do is check the 12V battery and charge it up as necessary. Then I would use an OBD2 scanner to check for and clear any error codes. The 12V battery maintenance system on my CE 04 doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the demand on the 12V battery during winter when the heated seats and grips are frequently used. Earlier on this year the 12V battery dropped to 7V over a few days of non-use which generated 18 fault codes and immobilised the bike. Simply charging up the 12V battery and clearing those codes with a cheap, generic OBD2 scanner restored my bike back to normal much to my relief. Good luck, I feel your pain.

Spoke to dealer, they say call Customer Service and have them tow it. Apparently they would have to take to NJ, no one win the area is certified to work on the high voltage battery in NOVA or MD!!!!

can you put the 12v battery on a charger without disconnecting the traction battery from the system?

I did put the 12V battery on a tender and when it showed as fully charged and nothing happened.

Maybe a silly thought, but have you tried disconnecting the 12V battery and leave it off for half an hour?
Just in case it's not really a fault with the drive battery but rather an electronic glitch in the controllers?

So the bike is back from the shop. It was sent, by BMW, to Mortons, which is the only dealer in the Mid Atlantic that has a certified high voltage technician. They had to change the Integrated Charge Module, as per BMW Germany, which is the part that senses which cells need to be charged and in what order, costs $6,000. The bike was also having a problem with the % display. It would drop to 85% after the first mile and then it would hold at that for about 10 miles, and then continue dropping at a a normal rate after that. Now it is back to normal.
Long live the warranty on theHigh Voltage System!!!!
If anyone else is getting that error message, I would encourage you to have the dealer change that part, on BMW behalf.
