    Emergency Braking: Scooter vs Motorcycle

Depends. If the rear wheel of a MC gets into a slide, ie, the bike's rear wheel is sliding toward one side or the other you need to stay on the power to prevent the rear wheel suddenly grabbing traction. Suddenly stopping the slide before the front wheel can straighten out the bike is a great...

    Emergency Braking: Scooter vs Motorcycle

Not to clear on the question but it's definitely easier on a scooter with ABS than even an ABS equipped motorcycle since you only have to react with two hands on the scooter instead of two hands and a foot as on a motorcycle. In both cases with ABS you don't have to waste any time modulating the...

A Review of the Sena 10C

I've had a bit of trouble with Sena's adhesive. I only use the clamp attachment on my helmet for the Bluetooth unit. Both myself and a friend who has a Sena unit on his helmet has had a slight problem keeping the microphone stuck to the chin bar on our helmets in hot weather. It gets to 100F+...

    Helmet for hot weather!

I have an HJC modular that I like in hot weather and on long trips. I just feel better with the additional protection. It has a switchable vent on top that sure feels good, keeps the sweat down. Also has a controllable vent on the chin bar that does a good job of keeping down fogging in cold...

Replacing Brake Pads -- Crazy Simple

I wouldn't worry about more rapid wear on organic pads. My Goldwing 1800 had pads just about the same size as those on the GT. If they can stop that beast and give good service as they did they'll do the job fine on the scooter. I do prefer the less abrupt operation of the organics. I suspect...

    Head lamp Assembly C600

Good to know. That might be somethin I'll let the dealer do. That way if they break it's on him!

    New Corbin seat

Just about 100F today and I put another 75 miles on the Corbin. Liking it more and more. I can't quite flat foot with this seat but then I couldn't quite on the OEM either. If one is worried about seat height I'd understate my inseam length by a couple inches which would put a bit further...

    TPMS inaccurate.

All tires lose air over time, whether it's seeping molecule by molecule through the tire itself or seeping through the somewhat porous cast wheels. It's important to have a good valve cap with a rubber seal too. These small leaks don't affect big tires much since with their volume it takes...

    Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

I guess I was a distinguished teenager in 1958 when I had a 1949 Triumph Thunderbird. Glad I'm riding a GT now instead now that I'm an undistinguished curmudgeon.

Legal Lane Splitting now the LAW in California!

A lot of left turn lights on our roads in OR go to amber blinking arrows which means turn with caution when opposing lane has a green. Makes a lot more sense on intersections when traffic is low.

Well... I'm not sure. Okay on the intelligent but I'm falling short on the humility and good looks.:(

    Change of heart.

There are a few down here in Southern Oregon. We have a good dealer here, Hansen's BMW. Prices are good, service excellent. My '13GT had some teething problems which they took care of quickly. Friendly folks who do you right. I can't say the same for the Honda/Kawasaki dealer here in town though.

Tires hard to find but I bought Shinko.

That's what I'm running on now. About two thousand on them and they're looking good. The front is wearing a bit faster than the rear but that's what happened with the OEMs too.

Looks like this place has tire a couple different brand tires that fit. http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=619&osCsid=889f7c700f2888a163c65301dee639b2

    Parking brake needed adjusting

I can't see how the pads could wear. They don't engage or disengage unless the bike isn't moving so there's no friction wear on them. I do think that a bit of cable stretch and wear on the brake disk will necessitate adjustments from time to time. One thing I did notice is that the adjuster...

    Parking brake needed adjusting

The other day I just happened to push back my scooter with the kickstand down and noticed the parking brake was slipping. It took a few turns on the adjuster to get it back to normal. Since the pads on the parking brake don't wear and the rear disk still measures it's original thickness I can...

Legal Lane Splitting now the LAW in California!

Nice that they finally made if official though that's been done with impunity for many years. I used to do it enroute from Medford, OR to San Diego often with my Goldwing. Pretty big bike for lane splitting but it worked and sure saved a lot of time. Once I rode from the top of the Grapevine on...

Wanna USE your parking brake WHILE RUNNING?

I suspect the third wire might be for the CANBUS but don't know that for sure.

I'm convinced I'd do it a little differently (Part III of my trilogy)

I consider plugs a permanent repair in tires on a car but not on a pick up since it often carries a heavy load. But not on a bike.
