C600 6000 miles and 4 years; likes and dislikes

I've had my GT for about three and a half years now and have no complaints with it. Its tall stature makes for more road clearance which allows for more speed in the twisties although I have replaced those two little wear nubs on the top of the center stand twice now. I ride with the shocks set...

    heated seat

I use the heated accessories on my '13 GT often in the fall and winter. So far never had a problem with them so far. In cool weather I just leave them on "A" for most of the cool weather and let the computer adjust the heating levels. I usually keep the rear seat heater off since most of my...

$300 OEM CVT Belts for $100???

You could take the belt with you just in case if you're concerned about the old one. Not much chance you'd really need it but if you're concerned at least you wouldn't be stuck anywhere waiting for one.

My first casualty with the scooter

I'd prefer the windshield to be independent from the computer like the BMW K1100LTs I had. I had to get my computer re-calibrated once early on but haven't had any further problems. I might have caused the problem when I removed the battery to add an electric outlet for my Gerbings heated gear...

Thinking its time to sell the BMW C650GT

Silverwing scooters routinely go 25,000 miles or so before needing CVT changing. Thanks to Skutor I have one of those $90 Mitsobishi CVT belts on hand. Same belt one third the price. I'll check it when I hit 15,000 miles and change it if it needs to be. About all I do to the drive line is check...

    Recall on 2017 C-Evolution and C650GT Scooters

It'd be more effective it you'd look at the rims instead.;)

New GT or Sport- Please help me decide

I don't find my GT sluggish, also the new models have been reworked to have faster off the line performance. Most important to me is that the GT carries more stuff under the seat. With the top box on I can carry almost as much as I could on my Goldwing. I wouldn't trade my '13 GT for a new...

    Duonic Bke Scan Professional

I have the GS911. It works well and allows reading a lot of real time parameters on the bike. I like it because I can set my own maintenance intervals and clear or investigate any faults. I have the wireless/wired version which is handy because I can plug it in and read many of the parameters on...

Thought about removing the center stand for more ground clearance.

I replaced the two sacrificial bolts on my center stand last year. I ended up just keeping the shock set at its highest setting which helps keep the grinding down. It really is impressive how this scooter can corner, a couple of my friends with motorcycles were very surprised.

    Four years old today!

My GT has turned four as well but only has 10,000 miles on the odometer. I haven't been riding as much this past year due to medical matters and have been Jeeping a bit more. (AC is wonderful in the summer around here). The scooter is running better than ever. I've been using Mobil 1 and ethanol...

    size does makes the difference

When you get down to it these scooters aren't small. The wheelbase of my GT is only a couple inches less than that on my previous Goldwing 1800. Much more leg room than the Goldwing as well. I won't say the GT is a comfortable on a long run as the big Honda but it's close and plenty well...

Service and warning light on start-up

I have the GS911 OBD diagnostic tool and set the reminder mileage to whatever I want it to be. As for ticking, that's always been one complaint I've had with my GT since new, quite a bit of mechanical noise at idle. No change in the noise when I had the timing chain tensioner recall done either.

Engine number? Do I really have to take off a bunch of fairing?

Amazing the stuff some states want to make life more difficult on residents. It's specially irritating in the case of a scooter like ours with basically a one piece engine and transmission that only fits a BMW scooter. I can see perhaps in autos where some hot rodder might use a stolen engine to...

Red Warning light water temperature (HELP PLEASE)

It doesn't look like anyone on the forum has had a similar experience. Have you taken it to the dealer to have it diagnosed with a OBD tool?

    BMW scooter engines go airborne.

Looks like the BMW C series engine is being used in several other vehicles including a two seat quadcopter. http://newatlas.com/workhorse-surefly-helicopter-range-extended-electric-quadcopter/49866/

    Side Cars

Well if that's a Ural it's at least a clone of a BMW, a 1938 BMW. I met a man on a road trip once who was riding a Ural with the engine replaced with a little Kubota diesel engine. For some reason this fellow, a Norwegian, was riding across the US with a diesel Ural running on Wesson oil. It...

Did I miss something? Chain tensioner.

A lot of things fail after turning hard left.

    size does makes the difference

The GT is the way to go if you plan to carry anything with you. I do shopping and errands with my GT, it can carry just about as much as my Goldwing's saddlebags and trunk could with the under seat storage and the top box. Nice if you travel in changing weather, plenty of room for the rain gear...

    Snoopy's in the shop again.

I wonder if some kind of non-slip coating on the floorboards underneath the rubber would help prevent shearing off the rubber pins. Perhaps something like contact cement, put on only one surface and allowed to dry before applying the rubber covers. That way the glue wouldn't adhere and join the...
