Buffeting at highway speeds (50+ MPH)

It is. It does wobble a little bit at 75mph, though, which is not totally surprising and not an issue at all. Since I never had the tall OEM screen, I don't know how that is in this respect. But the Puig uses the stock four mounting points with an orange brace in between and has no upper...

Yeah, that Burgman seat sure looks a lot more comfortable than the CE04 one...

You sold it? Didn't you get it like a few months ago?

Buffeting at highway speeds (50+ MPH)

I'm mostly a fan of having the cut-off right at my neck, so the helmet is in laminar wind flow. The Puig screen I have on now does that pretty dead on. No buffeting at all. My bike came with the tiny standard screen and that makes it behave pretty much like a naked bike would. Although you do...

    CE04 Replacement Mirrors

So I installed the Wunderlich mirror extensions yesterday and tested them on the way to work today. Huge difference, I now can actually see what's in the other lane without pinching my arm in to see anything in the mirror. Would recommend.

    German Optimism

Old thread, I know, but just to clarify that: In Germany, a speedometer by law is allowed to go "fast", i.e. read more than the actual speed by max. 10 % + 4 km/h. It may, however, never read less than the actual speed to prevent people from speeding "accidentally". And that's the reason all...

    brake lights on overrun?

I have the Shad TR55. I needed a large case as it needs to hold my helmet along with my armor when I leave the bike to go to the office. And, as it sits above the rear wheel, the lights are not as likely to be clipped when walking by the bike. Regarding the charger: kind of. The original one is...

    brake lights on overrun?

Ah, now I understand. Thanks! I usually put the helmet in the topcase anyway, since my emergency charger lives in the helmet compartment, so that would not be an issue.

    brake lights on overrun?

Umm, what? Autocorrect got the better of you? Apparently the lights for the S1000R are identical and much cheaper. They only have a shorter wire, so instead of disassembling half the scooter to plug the replacement part in you just cut off the wires off the old one and solder on the new ones.

    brake lights on overrun?

I'm thinking of getting those, too. Especially since the brake lights are so far down. What's your opinion on it?

    CE04 Replacement Mirrors

Although I'll get myself some "3D" mirror extensions (wider, higher and further forward), the handlebar of the CE04 is really slim and so the mirrors are too far in. Unlike my GS, there the handlebar is much wider.

    brake lights on overrun?

Yes, depending on how hard you recuperate (if that's what you mean by "overrun"). At least in Dynamic/Eco mode on full recuperation. Not sure where the threshold is exactly.

    Comfort Seat Front/Rear Comparison

True, Puig doesn't make theirs in orange ;-)

    Comfort Seat Front/Rear Comparison

Technically you'll need to declare that on your tax return and pay the state sales tax then. Technically. (They did catch me once when I ordered a $1500 leather motorcycle suit, apparently because it came through customs, which the CE04 parts would do, too. But they just told me to pay the tax...

    Comfort Seat Front/Rear Comparison

I don't think so. Probably just the screws from the old windscreen. But the question is: why would you? Unless you get bad buffeting from the windscreen, the higher one provides much better wind protection and increases range.

    Comfort Seat Front/Rear Comparison

I was thinking about the same thing but for $500 I can get it properly upholstered at a local shop, and get rid of the hump entirely. So if it starts to bother me, that's probably what I'll do. Admittedly, at 6'0" I don't have any issues with my knees. @grazi, is that knee picture before or after?

    New to CE04; charging question?

My software is even more ancient than yours: 013_013_020....

    New to CE04; charging question?

Probably the same software as yours, since yours likely hasn't been to the service either (I would assume someone bought it in 2023, didn't like it, traded it in and it sat at the dealer until you bought it). If you do take it to the 600mi service, I would recommend to have them do a brake fluid...

    New to CE04; charging question?

There you go. The BMW charger can only do 10A, for whatever reasons, and it has a pretty thick cable. I bought a Lectron Level 1 EV Charger that does 15A with a much thinner cable, so that resides in the helmet compartment now in case I ever need to charge at a household outlet. And it works, my...

    New to CE04; charging question?

Mine's a 2023 that I got new a month ago, so it likely hasn't seen a software update, either. I can look up which version I have if you're interested. I'll have them do the upgrade when I bring it in for the 600mi service. But I'm pretty sure that the range increase is not real but from the fact...
