Hey guys - does everyone's 650 have the same hesitation problem when starting off after sitting?
Mine does it a few times before I get under way. DB60 is stumbling what you mean.

650 Sport Pass Seat Comfort & Safety - Mike Mas
Hey Guys - Half the time that I’m out on my 650 Sport, Linda’s hanging on the back. Even before my Sport 650 arrived, I had my back rest sitting at home. Adding a back rest provides another level of safety for your passenger, since by pushing on...
LOL Some BMW pencil head sitting in an office wrote that goofy line - pretty much typical of all manuals - it you just started the engine its surely not going to "immediately" overheat! In fact with a fan on the radiator its not going to do anything immediately temperature wise.
If the engine...
Taking Your BMW C650 to a New Level “Of Sound” - Mike Mas
As I think back to my first ride on my 650 Sport - I was totally impressed her ability to jump off the line. I’m not saying the 650 is a super bike or fast, however for a CVT drive system, this bike has terrific performance for just a...
Thanks much for the link - it gives me an idea of the assembley and the unbelievable prices like $800+ for a headlight - Mine had a bulb blow up and burn some areas and fogged the inside, I'm thinking it will be covered under warranty though.
Mike
Ok I'm totally convinced all the 650's have this same noise, the reason I know is; if you go to the BMW site select the 650 GT then click "Start the Engine" I can hear the same whine noise barely in the back ground.
Regards - Mike...
Thanks for the reply Sku, I would like to start sound proofing the panels, does anyone know of an article or blog that shows how to get the center tunnel panels off. I noticed they are very thin so I'm sure they are transferring engine noise pretty easily.
Thanks in advance Mike
BMW 650 Sport Sheer Beauty Gone Before It’s Time - Mike Mas
Hey Guys - I recently acquired a BMW 650 Sport, which is my latest addition to my long list of motorcycles and wanted to share my thoughts and some pretty shots of my new girl. As most of you guys know, the beautiful Sport C650 will...
Thanks for the reply - but its not the clutch, its fine. There's nothing wrong with dry clutches they have been working for decades. Besides, the bike only has 200 miles on it, all the 650's have high rpm at low speed for better off the line performance, however if your just tooling around...
Just my luck - Sporting down the highway on my new 650 Sport with just a few hundred miles on her and I notice the "Lamp" warning comes on, OK no problem, pull over do a quick walk around and there it is - my left headlight bulb virtually exploded in the light assembly, fogging and burning...
Thanks -cool I'm just going to assume its normal - I have a MP3 and it has a tiny bit of the same noise - not sure if the 650 uses a Kevlar belt - maybe that's whats talking?
Regards - Mike
TwoPort you just made me a happy biker - nothing I hate worse than to bring a new bike in to a dealer for exploratory surgery. I figure it has to do with the CVT -If you look at the graph as it comes down in speed, at 40 mph it hits its lower ratio which is exactly where my noise begins.
How...
Here's a movie I did where you can hear the noise - it starts out as I let off the throttle 40 mph and worst around 30 mph - its not real loud in the video because of the wind but loud on the bike.

Hey guys - I just acquired a 2018 650 sport, say I'm running a 40-45 mph, and anytime I lower the throttle to where she begins to coast, I get an annoying whining noise from the drive train, is this normal for these bikes or do I have a problem.
Thanks In Advance
Thanks for the reply - I know what your saying - but there is actually three clutches on the 650, the engine clutch and two variable clutches which change ratio. There is also a set of fixed gears in the main drive. I'm sure there must be hundreds of guys who changed out the clutch and sliders...
Thanks Tom - I just checked it out thanks.
The article is a bit generic and does not provide any answers why BMW ended up with this exceptionally high rpm at low speeds. Tooling around a town or in slow speed traffic the engine is just wasting power and fuel, because of a very non non-linear...
Hey Guys - are there any threads on possibly modifying the clutch for "Increasing" the low end gear ratio on the 600S. Seems as if the engine is really turning much faster than it needs to when starting out and up to around 35 mph. After 40 mph things get right normal again. I was stuck in...
