How Long Do You Let The Engine Warm Up

Thinking back to the first bike my wife and I co-owned-- a 1970 BMW R60/5. Champaign, IL, got cold in the winter, and the bike was outside. Many times, my wife could stand on the kickstarter with all her weight, and it would not move! On those days we walked. Life is much easier now!

An alternative mounting for LED spotlights.

As an alternative to lights, consider slathering your helmet with high-quality hi-viz SOLAS reflector tape. It's the highest point on your bike, can be seen from any direction, can't blind drivers, and is maintenance-free and relatively inexpensive. Putting some on the bike wouldn't hurt...

When you push the start button.

My 2020 GT650 has always cranked at least 2 times-- even when warm. I don't know why the engine never fires on the first rev, but it's not a problem. The bike has never been reluctant to start-- hot or cold, winter or summer.

How Long Do You Let The Engine Warm Up

My 2020 C650GT lives in a garage, so it never gets below around 45degF. I don't let it idle to warm up. The driveway is downhill, then I turn 90 deg onto the uphill street. If I try to make that turn slowly, the bike hesitates and wants to low-side. I've learned to give it a bit more throttle...

Motorrad N00b from San Francisco! (Need some advice)

This is tangential to the question, but worth noting. “Dumping” a bike is virtually never a good idea. https://www.huffmanhuffman.com/blog/2021/january/is-it-safe-to-lay-down-your-motorcycle-when-abou/

    NEW 2021 BMW Rumors

My wife and I owned a Harley scooter! We got it in [barely] running condition from a farmer for $50 in 1970, rode it for a few years, and sold it for $50 even though the muffler had fallen off. Harleys really hold their value!

Is it me or does anybody else have problems with filling the tires

I carry a right-angle valve extension and 8-inch extension hose on my bike. Keep the valve extension attached to the hose. Just screw the valve extension onto the tire valve and fill at the end of the hose. Costs 7 bucks and works beautifully! On my home air compressor, I've replaced the...

    Horn rep

    4) I'm pretty sure that the stock wiring does not include connectors for two horns (or even for one non-BMW horn). I'm also pretty sure that the stock wiring does not include relays. Instructions 1) and 2) make sense, but the rest...

    Plate Eliminator??

What plate holder? My plate bolts directly to the fender. You hate the fender?

    Sound of motor riding

The CVT on the G650GT is designed to keep the motor at 4000 RPM (the torque peak) as much as possible. So RPM is not a good indicator of speed.

    Right front hand brake needed

I tried the ebay Chinese lever, and it broke the first day. See the story at this link. I found these levers online and decided to risk $38. They claim to fit C650GT 2012-15, but mine is a 2020. I had to grind down the finger that pushes against the brake master cylinder so that the brake...

    Tire Pressure Readings (RDC) Vanished

If you fill your tire when it is 98degF, it will be about 3 lb lower at 68degF.

    Phone Mount

The RAM® Quick-Grip™ Phone Holder is indeed the best cradle! I also was unhappy with the X-Grip. The Quick-Grip is totally secure, easy to use, and won't accidentally press the side buttons on the phone.

How do you lift a C650GT onto the centerstand?

In my experience, a bike is unlikely to roll if parked on the sidestand and facing uphill. I try very hard to avoid parking on an incline facing downhill, because that might involve the need to push the bike backwards uphill.

    Tire Pressure Readings (RDC) Vanished

The owner's manual says "The displayed tire inflation pressures refer to a tire air temperature of 68 °F (20 °C)." Perhaps this is the reason for the 3 lb discrepancy?

2020 c650gt problem taking off without warming up

My 2020 C650GT is a bit hesitant for the first couple of blocks (uphill). It's tolerable.

How do you lift a C650GT onto the centerstand?

It's not too difficult to disable the connection between the sidestand and parking brake. The cable that connects them has an adjuster nut at the rear wheel. Back it off a turn at a time until the rear wheel can rotate, and keep count of the turns on the adjuster nut. If you only need to...

Parking brake activated while I was riding!

I found these levers online and decided to risk $38. They claim to fit C650GT 2012-15, but mine is a 2020. I had to grind down the finger that pushes against the brake master cylinder so that the brake doesn't drag, but that was just a quick job with a grindstone on a dremel. I've just used it...
