Unfortunately, no HOV lanes here in IL. They generally seem to be a waste from my experience in GA as few cars were using them, but then again, I wasn't on a motorcycle then as I'm sure I would have appreciated them more.
Until the inconvenience of driving exceeds the benefits of riding a PTW, most people are just going to drive. Yeah, a few of us are trendsetters, but most people are lemmings and not risk takers. They can't see the big picture. I've always maintained that if urban cities really wanted to get...
I feel you. Haven't ridden since early November. I hope I will be able to ride in March. I just need a good 40 degree day and for all the snow to be melted.
Some folks don't necessarily want a motorcycle, but still want something sporty. I was in that category which was why I chose the c600. I wanted some convenient storage, auto, heated seat/grips, but didn't necessarily want the more laid back cruiser style of the burger or the c650.
What I...
Totally forgot about thermal underwear. I wear basic cotton long johns and they do a decent job of keeping my legs warm, particularly if I have my overpants on too.
I live in Oak Park, so I typically take 290 or ride out Lake Street or Chicago for my morning commute. Going home I usually just jump on Chicago Ave. 290 is pretty smooth other than the traffic being stop and go. All the routes take about the same amount of time for me in the morning...
Oh hell no!. I only ride when it is above freezing. I will pretty much ride right down to 32 degrees. Once it gets below that I have concerns about black ice and I'm done for the season. However, I will say that there some hardcore hipsters on little scoots in this weather (well maybe not...
I've had the same experience. Realistically, the only thing that makes it a scooter is the foot positions and CVT. Most people who aren't into bikes think it is motorcycle when they see it. I always felt BMW made a mistake classifying them as scooters. They should have just treated it like...
Pretty good numbers. I think the US market is just hard to crack. The riders here are more image conscious than European riders who view scooters as legitimate forms of transportation. Over here, we seem to have way more weekend riders who are compensating looking for the biggest, baddest...
Welcome to the C600 club! Hopefully, I will see you around Chicago this spring (I commute down to the Loop daily on my c600). I'm the guy on the bad ass blue one. My co-worker has the slower silver C600. You sound like me when I bought my c600. I was on a Vespa 300 and while I loved it, I...
Very little engine noise / vibrations. However, wind noise can be an issue depending on your helmet and height. I'm 6'ft tall and the wind screen in the highest setting gives me some serious helmet buffeting above about 65-70mph. No buffeting at all at the middle setting. Lowest setting puts...
Yeah, that is a big problem here in Chicago. I haven't been able to ride in about a month and I don't see any sign of decent weather on the horizon (40+ degrees).
I think there is something in the bike that drains the battery rapidly when not in use. I haven't ridden for about three weeks. I went out to start my bike the other day and it barely turned over and I am using one of the high dollar Lithium batteries. On the other hand, I haven ridden my...
I'm hoping to take a two day trip this spring and was planning on adding the Givi panniers and a center console bag. That should be more than enough to store all my stuff. I've never been a fan of top boxes. My co-worker has the BMW top box on his c600 and he likes it though.
So I've been trying to figure the 0-60 time of the BMW scooters. I've seen published ranges anywhere from 5.5 - 7.5 seconds. Recently found this video of a guy topping out his c600 on youtube. Gets to an impressive 210 kph. I also used a stop watch to see how fast he got to 60mph and after...

Don't really need more power. Scooter is already stupid fast. Only thing faster is the Aprilia. Only thing I need is maybe getting rid of some of the clutch lag at start which I think is fixed by lighter rollers and clutch replacement.
Yeah, I don't think the electric version is going to get many takers. Electric motorcycles while cool, don't make any sense to me. it isn't like gas is that expensive for a motorcycle. I hope BMW improves their marketing.
