    Commuter gear?

All, since there's no telling if and when BMW will actually put the Vision CE on the market, I'm thinking I might go with a CE04 in the meantime (and trade it in if/when the Vision CE debuts). That would obviously mean protective clothing (I never ride without), which, when using the bike for...

My High Voltage battery is dead

Maybe a silly thought, but have you tried disconnecting the 12V battery and leave it off for half an hour? Just in case it's not really a fault with the drive battery but rather an electronic glitch in the controllers?

The New Vision CE from BMW

The original (built 2000-2003) was called "C1". It did actually have really decent weather protection, especially with the optional acryl side shields, but you still got your elbows a bit wet in a downpour and had some spray flying around the inside. Of course, designer leather shoes are not the...

The New Vision CE from BMW

Yes, it was a bit sluggish on the acceleration (I even had the "200"), and getting up to top speed (around 110km/h, IIRC) took a while. But in the city that didn't really matter, you were still faster off the line than the cars, on the highway it did suck somewhat.

Ah, the Williams C1. I had the yellow/black Family Friend's version...

The New Vision CE from BMW

Yes, that only showed up when I selected English as my preferred language and enabled the French auto-captured subtitles. Not very user-friendly, I must say. But as predicted, they kept a possible release date to themselves.

The New Vision CE from BMW

Hi Bill, And here I was thinking AI would eventually be good for something. When I opened the video, I looked at exactly the setting you are referring to. I'm not sure why, but I only see - Off - French (auto-generated) Edit: ah, now that I've activated the French auto-generated subtitles and...

The New Vision CE from BMW

Very cool, thank you very much for the find, Yves! Sadly, there are no English subtitles, but maybe you could enlighten us a bit about what's being said? It looks like they built a functional prototype? Any info on a production date (although they're likely not to mention that anyways)? And you...

The New Vision CE from BMW

Regarding the Vision CE, ideally I'd like to see something that makes use of the cage and that provides weather protection, such like a full windshield and roof. As looking through plastic isn't ideal, that would probably need to be a glass windshield with a wiper, as the C1 had. So that's...

    CE 04 Maps question

I still don't get it, though, why they just not implement Android Auto/Carplay into the headunit. Just like about every car built in this decade has it. But no, they're BMW, they have do do their own thing.

Battery percentage doesn’t relate to actual riding

I probably wouldn't give it too much worry (as with the gas gauge on some cars): just figure out how many miles you can safely ride under any conditions and then don't exceed that.

The New Vision CE from BMW

I don't think that's relevant, the CE-04 is a heavy beast as it is, so I doubt a few pounds will make a difference. Plus, to keep the costs down the powertrain for the CE-04 is derived from car parts, I think the battery is part of the battery from an i4(?) and the motor is also derived from a...

The New Vision CE from BMW

I'm sadly aware of that. My hopes are due to the fact that while the CE-04 was a completely new construction, the Vision CE is apparently based on the CE-04, so one would assume that the only development necessary would be the integration of the cage. That is, unless they really want to keep...

The New Vision CE from BMW

Hmm, nothing new on the Vision CE so far. I doubt it'll be in showrooms next year. And I really want one!

How to start CE 04 without the key fob (lost or damaged fob)

Did the backup key help to get your phone and wallet out of the glove box?

CE 04 Predicted Range vs. Odometer

Ideally, you want a screen that shields you up to your neck, with the helmet in the wind. That usually produces the most laminar flow, i.e. the quietest ride. I've had to replace the screen on my GS with a lower one as the original created lots of turbulence right at the head.

    CE 04 Maps question

RAM mounts are good. I think there's even a plate mount available from external vendors that sticks with tape to the flat surface between the handlebars. That looks pretty sturdy, too.

    CE 04 Maps question

I really can't understand why BMW wants to go with their own ecosystem instead of implementing something used the world over like Carplay/AA. But if the CE04 is anything like my GS, isn't there a steel bar above the display behind the windscreen? I use that to attach a 7" Garmin nav system, but...

CE 04 Predicted Range vs. Odometer

See above. I'll need to confirm this the next time I ride, but AFAIK the signal stays on permanently when you are stationary, such as at a traffic light. Wouldn't make any sense otherwise.
