Battery percentage doesn’t relate to actual riding

My battery percentage as displayed when riding seems to have started behaving oddly. It’s dropping from 100% to 88% in just over a mile (1.8 km) of easy urban riding, then more stable and behaving as expected on a period of consistent 62 mph (100 kph) riding and then not moving at all for 10 miles (16 km) where it remained at 52%. It regularly seems to use a much higher percentage in the first half of my journey on a relatively flat out and back than it does on the return. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Greeting from Montreal, just a few questions ; what is the temperature when you are riding, do you use your heather grip and seat and also when you charge your battery do you slow charge or fast charging. Mine does bizarre pourcentage once and a while but it's mostly when the temperature drop to 3 degrees and it show me the snow flake beside the temperature, I did observe that charging at 6 amp the battery seems to keep it charge better compare to 10 amp.
I have the standard charger. The Operating software is not top has well and BMW know's they have to work on it, will see in the spring if they did fix the bugs that some people have.
Happy new year.

It has been happening recently but before the current sub zero cold snap in the UK (perhaps not cold by Canadian standards!) so it has been happening at 10-12 C and it seems to happen with heated grips on and with them off. I don’t remember this happening last winter either.
I charge at 6A. I have wondered if a software update might improve things. The bike is due its second service in 1600 km so I might ask them to do it then.
And a happy new year to you too.

Hello my software number is 014_015_020

I notice % drops fast if riding on freeway but then if I slow down for a while (get on to surface streets) I see no decrements for a period of time.
It's as if it gets ahead of itself decrementing the % and then if you reduce battery usage there is no change for a while because it has over budgeted/compensated.
My experience, view anyway.

I probably wouldn't give it too much worry (as with the gas gauge on some cars): just figure out how many miles you can safely ride under any conditions and then don't exceed that.
