I finally got my Carpuride installed. And a garage door opener button. I had to take the top handle bar cover off, left side panel off, Windshield, and little cover under the windshield. I found the little 3 prong plug under the handle bar cover. I plugged the adapter I got from Amazon in. Hooked up the positive and negative leads. The third one is just folded back and taped it to the bundle. I ran the lead from the Carpuride from the plug into the space behind the little cover I took off under the windshield. I was able to feed it up to right at the bracket I was putting the Carpuride on. The cable is hidden with just the end that attaches to the Carpuride showing. I then took all the excess cable and coiled it up and zip tied it together and then to the wire loom that the plug was attached to. I left all the lead on the Carpuride. I guess I could have cut it shorter and put the fuse back in line. As it is, if I need to get to the fuse all I have to do is take the top handle bar cover off.

The unit had a bolt that went thru the mount on the back to tighten it on so it wouldn’t move. It had a end that reminded me of a wing nut. I thought very easy to remove. I replaced it with a socket cap head screw that took an Allen wrench to remove. I tightened it down real good and put a lock nut on the other end. It is very sturdy and I feel a little secure from easy removal.

I am able to see it real good because of the size, 7”. And also the speedometer. I have to lean to one side the see the info on the top of the display. Unfortunately I can’t use the vent in the windshield. Oh well. The 5” one was just too small to see real good and to control

I got the 702Pro. I connected the phone to it and then the helmet to it. The Carpuride controls everything. It evens has an equalizer in it.

I was also able to Bluetooth my phone to the Scooter and it shows what the speed limit is supposed to be where I am at.

I also put in a button to control a Garage Door Opener.

This is a great post, what is your impression of the 702s you picked up so far? I've heard there is an issue with the mount where it can lose power to the screen periodically depending on road conditions.

Great job!

Nice work! Does the wonder wheel control the Carpuride?
As @Rugerbear stated above. he did not have wonderwheel support. And I haven't read of anyone else installing a CarPlay/AndroidAuto device that does, on a C 400.

I installed a cheap Aoocci device on my Royal Enfield Meteor 350 a year or so ago ...

2025-05-04_13-20-41 2.webp

... just to dip my toe in the CarPlay waters, to check out this stuff (and as a way to add external TPMS sensors to that bike). In the course of deciding upon that one, I did a fair amount of research -- watching YouTube videos, going to manufacturer web sites, reading, etc. -- particularly with regard to our C 400s, in case I wanted to get one for my scooter, too. (I haven't bothered, by the way).

In the course of that research, I now believe that Chigee and Carpuride are the two big players in this arena, with the most capable (and expensive) devices. They have advanced features, including OBD2 support on some models, wonderwheel support on some models intended for Beemers, over-the-air firmware updating, and so forth.

You can go to Chigee's site and look at models intended for Beemers, e.g., https://www.chigee.com/products/aio5-play-for-bmw. And you can read about the integration with some BMWs, e.g.:

CleanShot 2026-04-30 at 20.52.07@2x.webp

The important thing to note here, in my opinion, is the "Navigation Prep" part.

These wonderwheel-compatible devices are intended to fit in the nav prep mounts for the fancier Beemers, and be powered through the connectors in those particular mounts.

Having nav prep on a C 400 is not something I've seen anyone report on here. It may be possible, but I have not read about it. And I don't know where such mounts would be placed on a C 400, given there's no space above the TFT screen, before the windscreen intrudes.

(This reminds me of a similar situation with regard to whether or not our C 400s can have internal BMW TPMS sensors installed. As I've reported on this elsewhere, neither Beemer headquarters in Germany nor BMW North America were any help at all to me, but I eventually got that accomplished, anyway.)

Back to Chigee. If you then wander over to https://www.chigee.com/pages/aio5-play-bmw-compatibility, you'll see that the "C400 GT" is listed in their chart (about halfway down), but that "Buy the CGRC CAN or Activate SA 272" is a note in the column "To Access Wonder Wheel Control." The former is a product they sell, I believe, while the latter, I think, is some firmware that a dealer can set. In any case, this is not a simple matter of plugging in the Chigee into a nav prep mount on, say, an RT or GS.

Meanwhile, over at Carpuride, check out the device nearly identical (or perhaps actually identical) to what @Rugerbear installed: https://carpuride.com/collections/m...o/products/carpuride-w702bs-motorcycle-stereo, "Carpuride W702BS/W502BS - BMW Motorcycle CarPlay with OEM Controller Integration."

There, Carpuride notes:

✅Compatible with select BMW models, including:
R 1200 GS · R 1250 GS · R 1300 GS · S 1000 XR · …
Note: The 2019 R1250GS requires the mount cradle (PN: 10396481 / MN: 65908535826).
❌ Not Compatible With:
R1250RT, R1200RT, K1600GTL, 2025 M1000XR.
Unsure if W702BS fits your bike?
Please confirm your BMW motorrad model and check your original BMW navigation cradle before ordering.

So once again, we're talking nav prep (that's the "mount cradle," I assume) and possible incompatible models, and so forth, i.e., not a simple fits-all-Beemers-with-wonderwheels situation.

Next, go to Carpuride's will-this-fit-my-Beemer page: https://carpuride.com/blogs/guide/is-w702bs-compatible-with-my-bmw-motorcycle-model. There's no mention at all on that page of the C 400 variants. You can also read about all the caveats for the models that they do list.

Last, if you go to the bottom of that page, and click on the link titled "BS Series BMW Compatibility Issues & Solutions" you'll get a "Page not found" error. So apparently this issue has even confused Carpuride's web admin.

By the way, if you want to see some pics of the typical mount for these wonderwheel-compatible units, Rider magazine published an on-line review earlier this month of a Chigee unit, by long-time Beemer aficionado Moshe Levy: https://ridermagazine.com/2026/04/13/chigee-aio-5-play-for-bmw-motorcycles-review/. It works a treat on his bike, wonderwheel included, but ... he installed it on his recent-vintage RT.

Bottom line, IMO: if you or someone else gets the wonderwheel to interface in any way with one of these CarPlay/AndroidAuto units on a C 400, it's my belief that that will represent a first, and I'd certainly like to read about it.

That's all I got.

No it doesn’t. I know there is a model that will do that but not sure if it would on the C400GT. It’s easy to operate with gloves on as long as they are the ones that will operate a screen by touch.
Sorry to hear that. I was hoping it can work. I have a 2025 model, but I would like to have a confirmation from someone that it works before I buy it. I also wrote to their customer service to ask specifically for this, and here is a part of their reply:

The BS series can not only be directly installed on the original BMW adapter but also supports handlebar control functions and can synchronize with the motorcycle's original instrument panel.
BS series installation video:

However, please note the following when installing the BS series:

1. The BS series requires power from the original BMW bracket adapter. Otherwise, the control and synchronization functions will not work properly.

2. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) must be an original component of your motorcycle. If your motorcycle does not have this function, the device display will not show tire pressure.

3. The BS series handlebar control function requires your motorcycle to be equipped with handlebar controls (see "Accessories"). Please note that if your motorcycle does not have a TFT display, the BS series may not be able to synchronize with the original instrument panel data (tire pressure, speed, mileage, throttle position, etc.).

Thank you @wspollack for your extensive reply :)
I also know about Chigee and I saw the information you posted above. You are right, on their website they state that it is compatible with C400GT, so I wrote to their customer support email to ask if I need to buy the CGRC CAN module. Here is the reply:
Based on our experience, your bike should be compatible with our device, and you should not need to purchase the CGRC CAN module.
I'm just trying to find any device that will fit BMW OEM nav prep and be able to control it with wonder wheel.
My scooter has an original nav prep, so it would be nice to use it as it is supposed to work.
You mentioned that you haven't seen a C400 with nav prep, so here is the picture how it looks like.

Ah, so that's how they do nav prep on a C 400! Thanks for the pic -- it really is the first I've seen on a C 400.

(Edit addition: by the way, I'm not thrilled with that location. Compared to the location on the bigger Beemers, a display hooked up to the nav prep on the C 400: 1) rotates with handlebar movement, and; 2) requires that the rider move his or her eyes far away from looking at the road ahead, compared to the much higher nav prep mount locations on the bigger bikes.)

A few questions for you, if you have a minute:

That nav prep was done by the factory, or a BMW dealer, correct?

And underneath that cover on your bike, the connector looks like the connector in that picture I posted above from Chigee's site, or the connector in the Carpuride video that you posted, correct?

Did you '25 come with internal TPMS sensors installed, by any chance? (I assume that BMW continues its jackass sideways-in-the-"spoke" placement of the Schrader valves, which makes putting an external sensor on the front wheel a precarious change. By the way, I recall at least one of these outfits claiming that its German-sourced external-sensor brand would work on the front wheel of a C 400, and I called them out on that, had some email exchanges with the vendor, etc.)

If your connector looks like all the other nav prep connectors that Chigee and Carpuride show, AND you have the BMW internal sensors installed, I would THINK that you could get any of those latest BMW-oriented devices from either vendor, and they would just work as intended.

Good luck in your search for a definitive answer. As I've mentioned: 1) it's often difficult to get help from BMW, and; 2) sometimes even these aftermarket vendors don't provide solid information. I don't blame you for wanting to know if other owners have accomplished what you want to achieve. (I haven't looked into this area, but do either of those vendors have a short-term return policy that would help out, i.e., if you bought a unit but it didn't work out well on your C 400?)

And welcome to the forum.

Of course, I’m happy to share my experience and hope it will be helpful for other members.
That nav prep is done by the factory. In my country it is called “touring package” which includes the nav prep and the luggage carrier. Here is the pic how connectors look like when the cover is off.
Mine doesn’t have the TPMS sensors.
And thanks for welcoming me on the forum 🙂

Thanks for the additional information.

1) That connector certainly looks like all the other connectors on the bigger bikes, nine pairs of pins, top and bottom lips, etc. That is, yep, looks like a regular BMW nav prep. Maybe you'll be in business, with either a Chigee or Carpuride ... and the wonderwheel.

2) When I got my '22 C 400 GT (June 2022), and the following year a '23 C 400 GT (Oct. 2023), they came with the one North American package that was available, which included heated seats and heated grips. (There may have been something else, but I forget.) And before delivery I ordered the BMW luggage rack and the BMW 30-liter top case; both of those were moved over to the '23 when BMW replaced my '22.

Your European, or Serbian, package seems more useful (assuming that you still get the heated grips -- I don't bother with the seat, but I find heated grips very useful).

BMW has since changed to a larger top case for the C 400, but before they did I went even larger than that, with a Shad 58X adjustable size top case. If you’re curious about some of the other modifications I made, I have a gallery, with pics and captions and links, of the scooter at https://billanddot.com/C400GT/.

3) If you're interested in BMW's TPMS system (what they term RDC) -- and I imagine that you are, if you want to have the full capability of a high-end CarPlay device -- I have the parts and their prices listed, from when I got this accomplished last year, at https://www.bmw-scooters.com/threads/2025-tpms.3557/post-30463. (That's in a long thread, "2025 TPMS," and I probably should have placed my post in one of the other threads I started, but I was responding to some questions, got carried away, and so forth. Sorry.)

As I am fond of mentioning, I did some email correspondence, and both corporate (German) and North American BMW were absolutely useless in my quest to: A) determine whether BMW's RDC system could be retrofitted to my '23 C 400 GT and; B) if it could, exactly what part numbers were required. And the parts and service managers at my local dealer were also unsure, and disagreed with each other (and it is a very large BMW-only bike dealership, with three stores in three US states).

Instead, I received invaluable information from Phad, an independent BMW-bike specialist tech in Thailand. Without his help, I probably would not have accomplished my goal.

So, like you, as a service to the community, I listed all the part numbers, etc. And a forum member or two have now had the same work done. I don't know, of course, but I would assume that those same parts apply to your '25 model.

4) I hope that I live long enough, and am still riding, and still have the C 400 GT, when Veridian gets around to marketing a cruise control for the scooter. See https://veridiancruise.com/future-bikes/. That's a Canadian company that makes cruise control for throttle-by-wire bikes, and if you feel like dropping them a line -- [email protected] -- to let them know that you'd like their product for a C 400 GT, you have my encouragement.

The lack of TPMS and cruise control were my two biggest gripes about the C 400 (and the sideways Schrader valves were a close third, and related to the TPMS issue, of course). So if Veridian gets around to our scooters, I would be a happy camper. (Back in 2007, I personally added an MC Cruise to my then-new Burgman 650, and my 2012 Victory Cross Country Tour came with cruise from the factory.)

5) In any case, I look forward to your future report, if and when you add a CarPlay device to your nav-prepped scooter.

Thanks for your reply.
1) I'm not concerned about the connector, it looks like it's compatible. The only question is if it will work with the wonder wheel.
2) Mine also have heated grips and heated seat (it is more useful to me now than I thought in the beginning). I also got factory alarm system and floor projection (I didn't find a way to turn it off), which is a part of the exclusive package. Since I have the luggage carrier, I bought BMW's top case that has a light and USB C connector.
Thanks for the link to your gallery, a lot of useful information there!
3) I saw that thread, looks very good, but also an expensive upgrade.
4) I will send them a request, that would be a nice upgrade, although most of my rides are in the city, but from time to time I have longer rides.
5) Sure, I will report when I have some new useful information.
