Fantastic Tracker - Monimoto 7

What a great little device! No need to hard wire and batteries last up to 12 months. Fits very nicely into the slot above the phone compartment. Unless you are intimately familiar with this bike, a thief will not know a) that compartment even opens, b) the compartment won't open without the key fob, and c) the slim compartment above the phone even exists (you can't even see that area unless you kneel down and look inside). If you're looking for a great bike tracker that you can set up in no time, this is it.

My Bike was stoeln last night. I had an apple air tag on it... Found wihtin an hour.... Cops didnt care a jot.... Got it back, assessing the damage now...
 
Yeah if you own an Apple device, not much beats an air tag hot glued in a secret spot. They're relatively cheap and let you use Cook's spy network to find them. I use mine to find my scooter since I forget where I parked pretty often. If you don't want to sacrifice space in that cookie compartment, you can glue/tape the tracker to the inside flap of your phone compartment, just make sure to do some test closes for interference. I glued my garage door opener and gate opener to the inside flap personally, and my AirTag in a different spot entirely.

The problem with the Apple air tag is that it depends on the stolen bike being in a fairly public place where people with iPhones are passing by and they have "find my network" turned on. Per Apple,

"Your AirTag sends out a secure Bluetooth signal that can be detected by nearby devices in the Find My network. These devices send the location of your AirTag to iCloud — then you can go to the Find My app and see it on a map."

So, that's why I didn't go with the cheaper air tag solution. If your bike gets stolen and taken out to a rural area, you may never find it.
 
That's fair. The other caveat is the scooter can be checked for air tags before stealing via the Android app, but if it's hidden in a secured area like the helmet storage or cell phone slot, the would-be thief might be more incline to give up (or take it to a rural spot).
 
I've got one of the old Monimoto cylindric ones (maybe v1 or v2) that I've re-used from my old bike. It has been working ok since Jan 2019, just tested it after reading this post. I've put it under the seat near the hump, see photo if it helps someone or someones done a better solution. Thought of under the black plastic front centre piece for ease of battery change but didn't want to crack any plastic.

Would happily buy a Monimoto 7 if this one dies installing as the @rongrimes method.

I originally had a Cobra recreational vehicle on the second bike. Unfortunately it was a 3g device and was useless after 3g service was discontinued. I didn’t want to spend the extra money for Cobra’s automobile tracker because it has a lot of features that are not useful on a cvt scooter.
