Hi folks, just joined the forum. Thanks for having me.

I am new to bikes and have owned a CE04 since March 2024. (On turning 50, a new project). My intention was to learn to ride and I’m happy to say I have successfully mastered the art, without any mishaps.

I live in the Republic of Ireland, and it is my understanding that CE04s are quite rare. I suppose my first question is there any Irish CE04 riders here?

I love the bike and I’ve taken to the whole motorcycle ‘thing’ even though I have no past history of bikes and it is not in the family either. I will put up a few pics and a few questions in due course. Regards, CE04_IRL.

UK member here – welcome! Great choice for your first bike. Well done for keeping it safe. I had a few mishaps when I acquired my first motorcycle, but I was 17 at the time… (now coming up 66). Put up a few photos in the ‘Post your pics’ thread sometime!

Hi,
I am also living in Ireland, Dublin. I just got a CE 04 2 weeks ago.
Folks are still in shock I traded my 1200cc "adventure" bike for one, but I love it.
I haven't seen any other CE 04 out there either.

Good to know there is another one.

Hi Azguk, I'm in the South East. I'm glad to know there is at least one other person with a CE04 in the country!
I love it too, it's great for my 10km commute to work across Waterford City. As I said, I have no biking experience but have taken to these two wheels with no problems. I do have one issue with it which I'll go into at a future time. Probably in a new thread.
Anyway I might see you in the big smoke at some stage. Been there once on the bike. Needed to bring it to JD in Finglas for its 1000km check. The dealer in Cork didn't have a technician on hand to do it.
Anyway, have a good day.

Hi,
Irish owner here. Based in Wicklow.
Bought the bike new in September 2024.
Amazing machine, absolutely love it.

Use it for a 94km daily commute up to Dublin and back.
I don't take it on the motorway so its all twisty country back roads for me which is actually way more fun and interesting.
There is usually 25% - 30% left in the battery at the end of the day so more than enough for my needs or if I need to do a small detour along the way.

I found the saddle (backrest comfort seat) to be very uncomfortable. After about 20 mins of riding I'd get a numb backside and a nasty pain in my left knee.
So I bought a used backrest II comfort seat on Ebay. Just fitted it the other day and took it out for a spin. Wow what a difference. No more numbness and no more pain in the knee. Much more comfortable with the extra 50mm seat room.

Had my first and hopefully only 'incident' the other day leaving a friends house.
The front wheel was on tarmac but the rear wheel was on some gravel. When I went to move off the back wheel spun out and the bike spun around 180 degrees on the spot, like I was trying to do a doughnut or a burnout.
I lost control and unfortunately dropped it on its side, resulting in some minor damage to the paintwork on the lower left side fairing.
Completely took me by surprise and scared the life out of me to be honest. I didn't accelerate hard at all, it was in eco mode at the time.
The bike initiated an emergency call but we managed to get it upright and the call automatically cancelled before it connected.
Luckily my friend was there to help me pick it up.

As I was in a bit of a panic because it was lying on the main road now, I never turned it off and as we picked it up, my hand was on the throttle and it started to move. Luckily I caught it just in time, let go of the throttle and then turned the bike off without further incident.
This, as you could imagine, could have been much worse.

I actually learned a good lesson. If you drop the bike or have an accident - don't panic and turn it off before doing anything else.

Hi GMC.
It's a great bike, no doubt. Even in Eco mode, the torque is savage. I've had a bit of a saga with BMW over the derated state. I bought mine in the derated version thinking it could be easily switched back. Probably my fault for not asking during the sales process but I do think BMW should have made this known also.
I'm not so annoyed that the power is reduced but also the range is reduced. Very pizzed about that. This morning after a full charge I got 77km. Wouldn't be much use to yourself!
BMW have categorically stated that it can't be changed. And won't take any responsibility. Need to clock off now, but keep in touch. I started a FB page called BMW CE04 Ireland of which I am the only member. Please feel free to look up and join!
Brendan.

To the Irish CE04 owners, I will be trading in my CE04 soon. I have a Panier side bag and bracket which I bought new and I will be putting up on ebay soon. If any of you guys are interested please contact me. It is of no use to me now and I will be selling it at a considerable discount. Pictures attached.

That sounds trange and something to worry about... I'm a CE-02 owner, and my understanding is this should not happen because the bike constantly checks both wheels rotation speed and will cut/reduce power if a wheel is spinning faster then the other. As a matter of fact, when i accelerate on gravel (or olives over here) i can tell it stutters a bit and does not give the full power. Same thing if i ride over a bump and the rear wheel briefly lose traction.

Yes, that was my understanding too but I suspect it was possibly due to the bike being only just turned on and it was from a standing start so the traction control was not fully active at that very moment.
It is certainly something to be aware of when first moving off from a stand still after the bike has just been turned on - I am not and expert so I'm only guessing this may be the cause of the traction control not kicking in.

Hi - I'm in Dublin. Bought my CE04 Sep 23. Have a GSA 1200 sitting unused since then! A brilliant machine!

Hi - how much are you asking? Dylan

To be honest Dylan, I don't know. It cost about €140. I'll let it go for €50. Can you let me know soon, if you are interested as it likely the bike will be going in this Monday. My intention is to leave it on the bike as part of the trade in. I'll drop it up to you also.
