Is there a modification so that the BMW C400GT stays running with the kickstand down?

Not that I'm aware of.

I imagine some electrical trickery (or maybe duct tape over a switch, or something) could make it happen, but then it would be incumbent on the rider to make sure the stand was up, when actually starting off, or bad things would happen on the first left lean.

If you want the scoot to warm up some more before heading off, you could start it on the centerstand.

I guess you can override the switch on the kickstand, but I highly recommend not to do it. I had once an old scooter with that tweek and it's not that hard to forgot the stand in down position. First left turn and you are on the ground.. 🙄😳

Exactly. Countless stories of exactly this.

I strongly agree with janpoko and mzflorida: don't do it. It's unsafe, and gains very little. Unlike my previous 1200's, the center stand is quite easy to deploy if you must run the engine while you're off the bike -- and there's no chance that you'll drive off with the stand down. If you were to drive off with the kickstand down (and god knows, I've tried to shift into 1st (equivalent in geared bikes) countless times), it could quite likely lead to serious injury and really expensive repairs.

Likely possible, but a potentially very unsafe idea.
