@DOUG WARD :
Sorry, I can't help you with all-weather info, because so far I've only ridden my former '22 C 400 GT (5,000+ miles) and my current '23 C 400 GT (6,000+ miles) in nice weather. I'm retired, and except for a 2,000-mile multi-day trip last May/June I only ride on nice days (and during that trip, having studied the weather in the eastern USA, I managed to avoid rain, too).
I will give some fair-weather comments, if you're interested:
==> I have been very pleased with the (dry) handling of the stock Pirelli tires, having gone through much of three sets.
(My local dealership, the four-store, three-state, Max BMW, has a free program over the winter in which they pick up your Beemer from your house, do work on it, and then drop it off a week or so later. This helps give the techs something to do in the off-season, and I'm sure they make it up in shop charges. For years now, on the GT and prior non-BMW bikes, I almost always get new tires before or right at the start of the season, so I'm ready to ride in the spring, and typically don't have to worry about getting new tires -- even with some tread left -- or service for a bike in the heart of busy -- for me and the techs -- riding seasons.)
==> I have been disappointed in the siping depth of the Pirellis, i.e., even when brand new.
In my opinion, it's difficult to determine the life of the Pirellis, especially the front tire, given the minimal tread depth throughout their possibly useful life.
==> This past November, as part of the service-interval pick-up and drop-off work, I had Michelin City Grip 2 tires installed:
These have "Amazing wet grip" ... um, according to that Michelin page.
In any case, I have read good things about the City Grip 2 tires in some YouTube and text reviews, and am hoping that they will prove equal to the stock Pirellis in handling, and better in longevity. The siping depth is indeed about 2/32" deeper in the center of the front tire, and about the same (c. 7/32" - 8/32") in the center of the rear tire. Unfortunately, as a result of an upcoming medical procedure the start of my riding season will be delayed a month or two this year, so don't wait for me to give any handling report this spring.
That's all I got.
