Stripped shaft threads

stripped the threads that hold the variator when trying to take the nut off my 2013 c650gt. Can I replace the shaft without splitting the engine apart? Is it easy to replace?

Wow. How about for a simpler solution, take the shaft thread down one mm, and then source a corresponding (smaller diameter) nut?

Yes the primary shaft can be replaced without taking the engine apart.
You just need to access the left side.

How the hell did you do that. Have you had this apart previously or did someone else have it apart cross threaded it and not tell you.

I am still finding things that were assembled or broken from the manufacturer or service poorly done 13 years in
