webBikeWorld compares 1st Gen and 2nd Gen C650 GT's

. This bike does not seem like much of a improvement over the original. I cannot see any reasons to upgrade. I sure wish they would put cruise control on them

Hmmm. I'm super happy with mine. That's at least one reason to avoid test riding a new one. :) Seems the HIT Clutch resolves one issue. I don't care about the sound. A custom shock would resolve another issue. All of these mods might add up to $1,000 - much less than getting a new bike.

A few different color selections and cruise control combined with the other '16 upgrades just might get some of the gen 1 folks to move to gen 2. Throw in the kind of cosmetic changes the C600/C650 got and the CGT just might do it for even more.

... and ludicrous speed!!
They haven't gone plaid yet, so ludicrous speed may be a way off. :p

As for upgrading, it is something to have a problem free bike. That is in the back of my mind. No real need to change as long as everything works fine. Still, touring benefits of the GT would be nice.

Great article. It was his original article that convinced me to join the ranks. After test riding the older model and new one I bought the 2016. After thousands of miles I am still very happy. I wrote BMW and they had BMW magazine contact me. The current issue of the magazine has a short article and some picture in it about my travels.
If you have the chance to get a new model versus the previous one it would probably be a better experience for you. Unless you can find a leftover deeply discounted one.

I was interested in the new models and went to look at them. A test ride wasn't necessary as I was most interested in comfort and the performance of my 2013 is more then adequate for my riding style. I was interested in the Sport so sat on it first. Nope, it wasn't more comfortable, so it was ruled out, and found the same for the GT.
I will say a quieter engine was a big draw, but, I started wearing a full helmet which has helped a lot with sound levels. Even though I have taken some long trips on my Sport,it isn't as comfortable as my previous Honda Silverwing, and I eagerly await the possible arrival of the Honda X ADV.
Don't get me wrong, I really like my Sport, I just wish it was a bit more comfortable.

One big thing that I didn't mention was the fact that the trade in value was dropping faster then my payments, and I always pay extra.

I was VERY surprised BMWNA did NOT bring either scooter to the National Rally in Hamburg, NY this past summer. I would've loved to have tried one to see the difference for myself. VERY strange. Sometimes you really wonder how corporate minds work.

I had to leave early and unexpectadly (as you may remember from my text) but was also surprised there was no Beemer scooters there. BTW...Did you have your Zero at that point or did a test drive at the rally convince you?

Note to Kim...Can you provide a little more of what you liked/disliked about the Spyder? How long was your test drive? Have you tried a HD trike? BTW...If you are interested, let me know if you want to try my Kymco GT300i. I have been unable to ride for a little while (knee surgery this past Monday), and it might need some attention.;)

I had the Zero since April; a test ride I took late last year is what convinced me. I had to wait for my NYS tax rebate (from the solar panel installation) before I could actually buy one, though.

I rode a Spyder at this year's Americade and just hated it. If I ever get to the point where I can't balance two wheels, I'll just buy a convertible. Yes, I tried the Slingshot too, and it is just like driving a car that doesn't have heat, air-conditioning, a roof OR a trunk. Complete waste of money. At least the Spyders have decent luggage capability.
