What are the most common aftermarket upgrades ?

When I bought my last new GasGas 300 enduro bike it was $8000. then the extras cost me $4500. more . So now that I am looking at the most expensive scooter that I have ever seen what will the most popular extras cost me ? Thanks for you help .
 
Performance upgrade: Dr. Pulley sliders, HIT clutch
Comfort upgrade: Aeroflow windshield, Corbin saddle (with rider backrest), Throttlemeister bar-end weights
Extra luggage: The BMW top case.
Bling: Carbon Fiber windshield brackets

Except for the first items, I have everything else. I'm considering the Dr. Pulley sliders and HIT Clutch the next maintenance interval, though (now that I'm out of warranty).
 
Thanks for the info Jaime that is not all that much $ on upgrades . Are the stock tires really good ones or are there replacement ones that work alot better ?
 
I've always like Metzeler tires and don't have any issues with the OEM tires. Honestly, there aren't many choices in the size range for our scooters. Fortunately, they are the same size tires used by the Yamaha TMAX but I'm not aware of any other machine that uses those sizes. And our scooters are considerably heavier than the TMAX so what works well for that scooter may NOT work as well as on our machines. You'll see plenty of differing opinions here and I'm sure others will chime in shortly.

By the way, I have a 2013 model. If you're looking at the 2016 and newer models, you may not even NEED the Dr. Pulley Sliders and HIT Clutch as BMW apparently addressed the issues that made owners of the earlier models look at those items. I haven't been able to find a confirmed answer as to whether or not those new parts are retro-fittable to the older models so aftermarket may be my only answer. To be perfectly honest, though... I don't have any problem with the performance of my scooter off the line. I've always been easily able to safely pass slower traffic without any issues.

DD, JAC is a really good active resource on this site, so you're getting some good advice.

When I first test drove a 2013 GT, 3 years ago (2-hour round trip drive to get to the nearest dealer who had one). I loved everything about it except the "off-the-line" acceleration, so I didn't buy it. When the 2016 mods were introduced (waited 7 months before a dealer near me had a demo I could ride), as soon as I rode it, I knew I had to have one! ... so much better than my first test ride & my Burgman ... Night and day difference! You will not need any transmission upgrades (Dr Pulley), as BMW has done it for you.

The stock "FeelFree" tires are often praised by professional reviewers when comparing the beamer to the competition. You'd be smart to stick with them.

Nut ... as for the Akrapovic Slip-On Exhaust, I don't think you need it any more. The new stainless steel dual stock exhaust: looks great, sounds great, and is even lighter than the original. If i owned a pre-2016, I'd I'd do it in a heartbeat b/c I didn't even like the looks of the stock. But not now, again BMW has done it for you :cool:

And my 2016 did indeed come with the "Accessible plug for battery tender."

I forgot about the accessory plug. I had it installed at delivery for my heated vest; the fact that I can plug in my battery tender was just a bonus. I also had the brake levers wrapped in leather by IronBraid at Americade. I find the leather wrap makes the levers less "ice cold" in the winter. The grips may be heated, but the levers aren't.

I also have the BMW/Garmin GPS mount on the center of the handlebar, and I swap my Navigator IV between the C650GT and the K1200LT depending on which I'm riding. On the scooter, the GPS is the center of my "Entertainment Package" as I have over 5 Gb of MP3 files on it which is almost a solid week of music without repeats. I don't have to worry about "signal loss" either (which would be an issue with Spotify, XM, or any other streaming/broadcast solution). With my cellphone paired to the GPS and sitting on the charger in the left glove box I'm set for long road trips.

The first thing I would get is a gps tracker. I am telling everyone I see on two wheels. My 2013 GT was stolen from my backyard on 1/20. Police found it on 2/18. Repair estimate is $9,688.10. The thieves broke the handlebar and triple tree when they broke the steering lock, and every piece of plastic except the fenders trying to Hotwire it. If I had a gps tracker, we could have found it that first night. This my new crusade.
 
I can do my own accessory plug N/C , the wind shield I would do and the seat . Say 5/6 hundred there tires are a keeper that is good . How much is that top case with any needed brackets ?
 
Hi I did the passenger back rest and the dual head light mod, also looking for the Hit clutch and sliders myself...
 
For my C650 Sport I've added: a GIVI windshield; a RAM mount on the left brake reservoir; a Kaoko throttle lock; a large GIVI topcase; the inside BMW cargo separator; and the BMW SAT NAV unit. The SAT NAV unit was deeply discounted by the dealer when I bought the scoot.

If the dealer offers a maintenance package or extended warranty, I may opt in to those.

Hi, I'm hoping you can help. I bought a givi top box and all parts needed including the Sr5121 Mounting plate and brackets. I was about to install it onto the bike as it looks very easy but before I began I saw that the underneath of where the first screws should go was covered by part of the plastic guard of the bike. Would you know what the process is as I don't want to crack the plastic. It's under the bike on either side of the seat where the black plastic meets the white plastic. Sorry I wish I could explain it better. How do I remove the white covering to expose where the screw threads into without drilling into the plastic or cracking it as I think it's one piece with the side guard. Any help from anyone will be very appreciated. Thank you Danny
