Removing backrest on 2018 C650GT

If the backrest is removed and not used, is there anything unsightly there? Or something that will jab you in the rear?

I'm 6'2", 210 lbs, and I think It might be more comfortable if I removed the backrest completely so I could scoot back a couple of inches. The backrest is already in its rear-most position.
 
Have same problem, I think only solution is to fit a Corbin seat, it doesn’t have a bulky backrest so maybe there is at least an inch of extra space , but $800...... I don’t know.... maybe I bend the knees a little.......
 
Like Jorge said, it takes 30 seconds and 2 screws to remove it and see for yourself. It's butt-ugly (so to speak), nothing symetrical, just fabric forced over a couple unseen protuberances of varying size.

I have been debating a Corbin myself. I've had 3 on a Burgman 650 and 2 Silver Wings. Amazing seat. I talked to Corbin last week and they can "push back" (their term) the butt rest area; I had a previous Corbin pushed back 3 inches and it worked out perfectly (I am 6'1" tall). But as Carlos said, it's $893 in the U.S. + tax + $65 shipping, so that's a $1,000 vs. bending the knees a little. Still, I just sold a house, have some cash on hand and I'm very tempted. Corbin also said they would skip the heating element and lower the cost by $100 -- I live in South Florida so there are about 5 nights a year when I can use a heated seat or grips.
 
Get the corbin. Especially of you plan on doing any long distance riding on the scooter. The stock seat (while looks pretty) is crap on any long distance ride. After a couple of hours my ass was so numb and sore I had to keep stopping. Corbin solved that problem. Yes, I did have the back of the seat moved back some as well as I added the backrest to the bike. Made a world of difference and it's the most comfortable bike I've ever traveled with......period!. I'm talking Goldwings, Valkyries, F6b, and even Harley's. This thing is literally like sitting on my couch all day and I don't have to worry about cold/wet feet when riding through rain and cold.2019-05-21 18.11.57 reduced.webp
 
They made it in one day. I was the last one out the door, but, I was also the last one they started on. The staff stayed until they had everything done and I was out the door. I spent the night there and rode back from San Jose to El Paso, Texas the next day. Got me an iron butt out of it (y). Oh, and yes, both front and back heaters work. The rear is operated with the usual Corbin switch on the side of the seat, the front is operated off the right handlebar switch.
storage stayed the same.
 
This afternoon I ordered some 120mm M6 socket cap bolts and some spacers to see if I can raise up the backrest a few inches and see if it suits me better. It's not like it doesnt suit me currently, but its about 20 bucks in parts so I figured what the heck. I tried the local hardware store but they didnt have any long M6 bolts and what they did have were hex head which wouldnt have fit in the holes. I'll post pix and a review in a few days, the parts should be here Saturday.

I took mine off the very first day. I am 6foot 3, and it makes for a much nicer ride.
 
Parts came today so I went ahead and raised the backrest. I tried it in all three spots but ended up with the front set of holes that pushes it back the farthest. Otherwise it put me too far forward on the seat. I have yet to take it for a ride, I'll do that tomorrow morning and see how it suits me. As far as stiffness goes, its just fine.
