I have been wondering IF this is normal when i start the bike up it cranks 3 times then starts? With one push on the start to get
Your bike to run OR do i need another battery cuz i do NOT know how old this battery is on my 2016 C 650 GT. IF you know a
site that carries the battery would you post the link?

Napa carries the battery. Most auto parts stores should also.

My 2020 GT650 has always cranked at least 2 times-- even when warm. I don't know why the engine never fires on the first rev, but it's not a problem.
The bike has never been reluctant to start-- hot or cold, winter or summer.

Mine starts right up but I help it. I push the starter button and immediately give the throttle a quick turn, just enough to move my knuckles from 10:00 to 12:00 on the throttle. The engine roars to life every time. If I didn't do that it would crank a few times. A flick of gas removes the crankiness ;o)

I keep the battery charged by riding every day and plugging into a Battery Tender Jr. every couple weeks. It's easy to add the Battery Tender plug in cable to the battery. I will post a separate thread on that in case anyone is searching for that info.

Delray i have hit the start button as well and fires right up. But my brother who has worked on all kind of
motorcycles said not to do that. I think he said it would damage the oil pump or the fuel pump. I did not
know about that cable hanging down was for a charger under the battery.. The 2 batteries chargers that i
have do not have that slip in plug. I am going to have to buy a new one Go ahead n post a pick of that cable
plug in for ithers to see.

I've owned six BMW motorcycles over the last few decades and my C650GT is the ONLY one that doesn't fire immediately...as in "a split second." That slower start alarmed me at first but now I'm completely used to it. Just seems to be the nature of the scooter. Regarding battery chargers...I've used the Battery Tender for years on my bikes/cars however more recently I switched to the NOCO line of products found on Amazon Prime. They're SUPERB with many cabling options. Love them!

You might try cycling the ignition switch on and off a few times before cranking. The assures that the fuel is topped off on the fuel rail. Also, mine is also a little sluggish on the start, well as my Yamaha.
