I picked up my scoot today and the dealer said they would give discounts on parts but I think they ment BMW parts. First thing I purchased was a canyon dancer to trailer it home and no discount on that. But they were selling it for the same price as everyone online so that's cool. I don't know if I will be purchasing any BMW parts as they are expensive. (If they are really nice I might.) I asked for the price on a second key fob as I really like to have a spare one, but when they told me $425 I thought, I hope I don't loose the one I got. So far it looks like the aftermarket is supplying quality accesories at reasonalble prices.
Regarding that single,
very valuable, fob that comes with the bike, what I did, early on, was put it on its own ring ... along with an Apple AirTag. That way, if it falls out of my jacket pocket -- I always wear a jacket when riding, even if it's a mesh jacket on really hot days, and I try very hard to always remember to zip up the pockets -- I have a way to hopefully find it. If you don't live in the world of Apple products, well, there are other similar devices out there (as a search for, say,
bluetooth locator tag,
bluetooth tracker, etc., will reveal).
The other thing that I did early on was order this on eBay:
(Well, the exact listing I purchased from is no longer there, but the link above is the same thing. If this link becomes invalid over time, too, do a search for
TPU Remote Flip Keyless Key Cover Case Fob For BMW Motorcycle).
This is a cushiony/vinyl/rubbery type of covering -- I don't want the plastic to break if I happen to drop it, which breakage might be as costly as losing it:
As you can see, I got mine in red, to assist in visual location, if need be. (The other items are the aforementioned AirTag, in a waterproof case that I got on Amazon, and a set of house keys in that leather gizmo, and a key to the Givi sidecases on my Royal Enfield -- I put that huge blob of stuff in a jacket pocket when riding either bike, and the RE's ignition key is separate, because attaching anything to it would scratch the gas tank when filling up.)
So, um, yeah, don't lose that fob.
