Greetings

It is definitely fixed under warranty.......The Catbird warranty.;)

I haven't been close to having any problem with it. Of course now that I've said that, I guess I should call my dealer and tell him to order the part.
 
Remember, there are a BUNCH of Dealer Demos being sold across the country. They have anywhere from 400-1,100 miles, are still considered new and unregistered, have a full new warrantee, and are selling for under $8,000.00.

Even if your local dealer doesn't have one in stock, find one that is not ridiculously far away and see if they'll match the price on that 2013.

I spoke to my dealer on the phone yesterday; I was seeking info/price/new features on the 2014 C600 Sport. I was told that they had no information yet. In fact, I was told that he didn't believe that BMW had started building 2014 C600s (???). Since I'm only interested in the Sport model for myself, I didn't pursue any C650 details. Regarding the C600 Sport model - he had two in stock with the highline pkg. with an MSRP of $10,690. He thought there was a good chance that there were some BMW incentives that could amount to a discount of $1K or more. Today, I'm planning on actually going to the dealer's and seeing if I can determine what is fact and what is fiction. I'm also going take the opportunity to personally ask the dealership owner about the warranty regarding broken gas cap doors.

That is a great idea! May work for some 650GTs also, but the supply/demand for those seem less likely to provide discount opportunities.

Don't worry too much about the door. I've opened my seat a couple times on it and it didn't break. It did break, however, last weekend when I was removing the side plastics to run power for heated gear. Not sure when I'll get around to replacing it -- you can't tell from looking that it's broken and it's still secure (one side tab and the top tab).

I went to the dealer today. He still has a silver and a couple blue 600's left at $8,500. They have one black 2014 650, however it has a low seat option, which after plopping by behind into it, I wasn't overly thrilled with it. It just made the handle bar placement way too high. The other thing I noticed on the low option seat on the 650 was that the gas cap moves back further so it won't break off when you raise the seat.

I then sat on a 600 and I loved where everything was. I believe the one I sat on was a 2014 black. I loved the way that it felt, however I really liked the 650s body and the electronic windshield, while I don't know how much I'd actually use it, was a nice feature.

So I'm kind of stuck. I can get a 600 for about $8500 out the door OR I can wait a month or two and get the 2014 650 with the higher seat at $10590. Personally, I'm leaning toward just waiting to get the 650, plus they should have that nice brown color that I like so much.

This is seriously going to make my head explode.

AFAIK, you can't have the seat heater with the low-seat option. Also, I love the electric windshield of the 650; I use it everyday depending how fast I'm going and how cold (or warm) is.
 
Well, James, sounds to me like you want a 650. One thing to consider when it comes to price.....In 3, 4, or 5 years when you want to trade in for the latest model, you might realize part of the price difference at that time. Also, seat comfort is really important in a sport touring bike as is peg (or floor board) location and how it all fits for you.

When you are "leaning toward just waiting" that is probably what you should do. And, hey, we'll be here to tease you with all the stories of our rides just to make the wait seem that much longer.;)
 
Do they allow any test rides there now, or is the weather killing it? I went to my BMW Dealer near my house about 7 miles down a really nice regional twisty road...made for bike test rides. Rode a C650Gt HOME and back, and later, when he got in a Demo C600Sport, did the same with it. Very different (for me) feel to the two of them:

1.) more aggressive riding position on the C600, lighter and more "flickable", pretty aerodynamic and shod with really responsive Pirelli Diablo tires. (LOVED it!)

2.) more upright, cruiser-like position on the C650GT, heavier with Metzler tires, pushes LOTS of air, and not as lithe as the C600. (Ho-Hum...)

Gonna mostly commute, get the C650Gt. Gonna get out and have fun on the weekends, get the C600. BIG difference between them.

Here, the C650GT outsells the C600Sport 2:1. In Europe, it's almost 3:1 in favor of the C600Sport...mostly to Tmax owners!

Get test rides!!

Just to add to your indecision misery, I found this while doing some farkel research. It's not the latest and while you may have already seen it, it is pretty thorough; also, written by a scooter guy rather the the motorcycle reviews we more often see (both segments like the bikes but have differing viewpoints).....

BTW, in the middle of the review he talks about mounting via the floorboards (my preferred mount/dismount method) and yelling a German sounding phrase while doing so.....I've had added that to my repertoire, just as a warning in the event the Chicago/NE Ohio group gets together later this year.
