Need new battery C650 Sport. Options?

I did try the search option but didn't come up with much. I have a 2016 C650 Sport and want to put a new battery in it. What have you'll been using? I put a Shorai Lithium battery in my F800GT and would like to put a lithium battery on the scooter too. I'm open to other brands or even traditional batteries. Prefer to order it online.

It's been a long time since I have been here on the forum. Surprised I remembered my log in.

Lithiums are a bit pricey. I like an AGM battery and get the biggest one with the highest ca cranking amps that will fit. Make sure the positive and negative are one the correct side is all

Also you may have noticed all the lithium fires on the news. Mostly during big floods. Lithiums hate cold weather more so than AGM.

Good Point. If I am away for a couple of months i put her on a trickle charger
 
When the first gps tracker was installed incorrectly on my 2013 GT it kept draining the battery until I got the full sizes Battery Tender. I had purchased a replacement battery from Napa and before I got the bigger charger I must have exchanged 6 batteries that summer with no hassle from them. Once I had the bigger charger I had no more trouble until I could get a different gps tracker. I’m guessing that they were agm types and after that I had the same battery for six years with no problems until I got hit by a pickup and totaled the bike. After a house fire started by a lithium battery bank I have a hard time trusting lithium batteries.

Ya know, you folks can offer alternative suggestions to @RollaCosta or anyone else, but personally I have nothing against spending some extra coin -- maybe even twice a low price -- when it comes to batteries.

I think it's a case of how long do you plan on keeping a bike, do you use a float charger, how far astray do you ride when goofing off or doing serious traveling (i.e., how inconvenient would it be to get stranded), and so on and so forth.

About three years ago I spent a good chunk of change to get this Yuasa shipped to me from Revzilla:


I got this for a Burgman 650, and was mocked -- okay, maybe "ribbed" would be a better term -- pretty soundly by some folks on the BurgmanUSA forum. I didn't care: I wanted the beefiest battery that would fit, and from a known pretty good vendor. I think all's well that ends well, and would've done it again. What's an extra $60 or $80 or whatever, in terms of money spent on a bike (e.g., do you get the cheapest tires you can find?), if it made me feel better ... and it did.

I use a German intAct HVT technology battery (type CTX14BS AGM, 14Ah, 250A).

It is the best designed and most powerful battery I have ever had on my bikes.
For example, the HVT version on the c650, has maintained a high level state of charge for over a year, with 13 volts at rest, where most other brands collapse below 12.5 volts after a few months.

Lithium versions are also available. I'll give you the link to the manufacturer, but you can easily find his products on Amazon.

My concern about super-light lithium batteries on C650 is as follows.
The battery is installed in front and it's weight is part of the bouncing front suspension with W1 on top of the spring (incl. 5.4Kg battery) and W2 at the bottom (wheel, tyre, calipers etc). When you lighten up the top by 4.5Kg (the Lithium ones are under 1Kg with weight ~2 lbs) you have a lighter top but same weight bottom. With a resonating spring between (W1-4.5Kg) and W2, guess which part will start to bounce more? Nota Bene - the front forks are not adjustable, and there is no aftermarket options (correct me if wrong).
The Lithium batteries are marked as "sport use" e.g. situations where faster acceleration is more important than comfort.
It that is your case, go for it. I pass.
Secondary considerations are compatibility of the charging circuit on the bike (+14.8V on mine) and any trickle chargers you may have.
Oh and don't forget those Lithium thingies make very strong fires occasionally.
As Li is sensitive to overcharging, I would not risk it even if you paid me to install one in.
