Hello! Just purchased a 2024 BMW C400GT. Just hit 100 miles! Love it so far. I already have a 2021 BMW F750GS and love that. Also a 2014 Harley Fatboy Lo. So now with the added "scooter" I think I have most of the bases covered!

I have been quite impressed so far with the C400GT. I think it corners as well (or maybe better) than my 750GS! Not quite as fast but I passed a car the other day and looked down at my speedometer and it was reading 81 mph! (And this was on a 55 mph highway! Ooops)! So I know it will go at least that fast! (ps - I've only had my 750GS up to 75 and that was just a short burst to see how it went - I quit before it did)! Most of my riding is considerably slower than that)! So anyway, good to know there is plenty of "oomph" in the C400GT!

Been following this forum and the postings of WSPOLLACK convinced me to go for this bike as I was looking for something that would be comfortable for both my wife and I. (Got the BMW topbox - at that outrageous pricing - but again, it looked to be the most comfortable for my wife. She's not been on it yet though so we'll see....). She definitely does not like my BMW Vario case on the 750Gs though so expect this will be better for her (I hope....).

Man, thanks for the kind words, but that's a lot of pressure on me. I truly hope that you enjoy the bike -- and that your wife does, too -- or I gather my name will be mud.

As I guess you've read, after two weeks on the nearly identical C 400 X (two Edelweiss tours, in May 2022) my wife liked the ergonomics so much that she suggested that I buy one, once we got home. She had experienced the back seat of a Valkyrie Interstate that I owned for seven years and that of a Victory Cross Country Tour that I owned for five years, so she's had actual knowledge regarding pillion comfort. By contrast, the two Burgman 650s I've owned had atrocious passenger ergos -- especially feet and leg positioning, and Givi topcases and their worthless pads -- to the point where on one of them I had a local upholsterer fabricate a one-off semi-wrap-around backrest.

In sad news for me, my other current ride is a '23 Royal Enfield Meteor 350, and my wife won't even test-fit herself on it in the garage. That passenger seat is about 8" wide in the (fore and aft) middle, compared to 13" on the C 400 GT, and she just looks at the Meteor in disdain (but in all fairness it's a wonderful back-road bike).

On the C 400 GT speed front, the owner's manual itself states that the top speed is 86mph. I can attest to that, and ONCE IT'S BROKEN IN, AND PAST THE FIRST SERVICE AND BREAK-IN MILEAGE SPECIFICATION, my GoPro GPS chips (10Hz on the Hero11 and a whopping 18Hz on the Hero9) say that it can do 89 on level ground.

I got back almost two weeks ago from a one-week visit to a daughter in Asheville, NC (I'm in the Albany, NY, area), putting on about 2,000 miles on my '23 C 400 GT. I did: two interstate days down (and took a couple hours' detour on the second day, to ride the Back of the Dragon and vicinity in VA); then a day of riding the Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway in NC and TN (and then interstate riding to get back to Asheville); three days visiting; and two more Interstate days back. Just because I can, and because I'm sort of anal, here are the figures for those five riding days:

Max left lean angle, max right lean angle, max mph:

Day 1: -30.2, 26.6, 89.0
Day 2: -38.1, 35.9, 86.5
Day 3: -37.2, 39.0, 86.4
Day 7: -25.2, 23.4, 87.1
Day 8: -17.8, 28.1, 86.3

The interstates, once south of PA, were largely 70mph speed limits, and of course I was merely keeping up with traffic.

And the scoot is, in my opinion, the best handling of all those bikes I've mentioned and an R850R that I owned for three years. It is very confidence inspiring, if you're into twisties (or hairpins -- I rode a C 400 X in the Alps for nine days last year).

Of course, it's far from perfect ... just to be clear, in case any prospective owners are reading this.

I wish that it would have a TPMS system (or regular in-the-center-of-the-rim placement of the Schrader valves), cruise control, and more and better organized underseat storage (the flexcase notwithstanding).

(And you may have read that I had an engine problem with my '22 C 400 GT, which BMW eventually swapped me for a '23. I consider that a one-off fluke, and have never read about anyone else having a similar problem. Shithappens.)

Other than those wishes, it's a pretty nice bike, all right.

Hi Bill! Thanks for the reply. Don't worry "no pressure" on you! I know how everybody has their opinion of what works best for them so it will either work out for me or not. Fortunately I seem to be off to a good start on the C400GT.

I agree with some options that would have been nice. My BMW 750GS has cruise control, TPMS, electronic adjustable suspension, rider modes, etc. which I think is quite unusual on a 750 and I really like it. (But my wife does NOT, not comfortable two up). But the cruise control and TPMS would have been great on the GT and does not seem like it would have been much additional cost to add those by BMW. (They'll probably add it to the next version now that I've already purchased one! Ha)! Taking my wife on her "inaugural" ride this afternoon so we'll see how that goes.........

Welcome, Gonzo, from the Albany, NY, area.

I owned a '97 R850R (from 1997 - 2000), so I go back a bit with BMW, too.

My riding buddy bought a used R90S (back in the 80s, I believe, or maybe it was the late 70s), and still has it, although it's mostly a garage queen. Here's a pic of that bike in my driveway, a whopping 22 years ago (my, how time flies!):

Me, I owned two Burgman 650 Execs: an '07, from '07 - '12, and '08, from '16 - '22.

I now ride a '23 C 400 GT when I want a fast bike, or switch to my '23 Royal Enfield Meteor 350 when I want to smell the roses.

Unfortunately it is not a picture of my wheel. This is a picture and my dream that I came across in a Facebook group.
Dobar dan Dario!

I'll be in Split for 10 days in September, I have many colleagues there and have been coming to Split since 2016. Tough language! Very similar climate to Southern California so perfect for a scooter.

Cessie76..Split is 400km from me on Adriatic coast. I hope that U will enjoy visiting beautiful sea.
