Hello friends. I have a 2022 CE-04 with 1,400 miles, no issues until now. After charging successfully last night, and disconnecting g the charger, as I have dozens of times, today the bike is totally dead; no dash lights, no start, unresponsive to charger. I tried both keys so not the battery in the key. . .

Is there a way to reset the ECU.....or some other trouble shooting routine someone can recommend please?

I'm guessing the 12V battery may be at fault, although I've had no issues and no warning lights or messages....

I'm so bummed...

Hello, I've had no such issues with my 2022 CE 04 but if this happened I would first check all the fuses, including the 40A main fuse, and the voltage of the 12V battery when disconnected from the bike.

YES!!! I had that issue when I first purchased my CE-04. When they tried to take it off the floor to prep it for my delivery, everything was dead, even though they charged the "main" batteries. Apparently, there is a secondary battery somewhere else—a smaller single battery, I assume, much like a regular MC battery that was also dead and does not get charged with the regular charger for the bike. After that, they found that they had mis-wired one of the turn signals that a customer had broken off (we all know about that issue). I spent the entire day there waiting for their service department to diagnose and fix the issue. They went all out and worked until early evening making sure I was satisfied with the bike as I was trailering it back to my home town 300 miles away. No issues since then.

Hi, Just got the same issue, when turning on the bike the screen just glitched and then nothing happend. The bike is a 2023mod with 1213 km.
So non of your bikes did start after this issue? I guess all of you got it on warranty?

That's right. I've come to learn that all electric vehicles, cars, scoots, cycles have a high voltage propulsion battery and a 12V secondary battery which powers the start cycle and I think maintains the ECU while bike parked/stored. This secondary system is supposed to receive a charge from the main battery to keep it "alive".

Tesla sends a message to owners when it's 12V battery is in imminent danger of failure, something like every two years, I'm told.

now that I have a replacement 12V in my CE, I'm keeping it on trickle charger when not in use.

Part of the learning curve...!

I've never had an EV of any sort -- plug-in, hybrid, full-electric, etc. -- car or bike, but I've read about and watched YouTube videos about replacing the 12V battery on Teslas, for instance.

And a 12V pigtail always seems like a good idea to me with regard to bikes: in addition to smart-chargers, you can use it for a 12V air pump and for heated gear. (Going back almost 20 years now, I've always added a direct, fused, connection to the battery on all my bikes for all those three purposes, but have done so with a BMW/Powerlet/DIN/Hella socket, instead of the typical SAE pigtail, because I find those sockets easier to use ... but that's me.)

Glad you sorted it Mitleider.

Many CE 04 owners don't know that there is a T-25 Torx wrench positioned behind the fairing panel above the headlight. That wrench allows you (wherever you are) to get the right rear body panel off the scooter and access the 12V battery terminals without entering a locked compartment.

Another charger option is to use a CANBUS-compatible smart charger and plug it into the accessory outlet in the dash. I use an Optimate charger and I'm happy with how it works with BMW's CANBUS.

Wondered about that as an option. Will have to have a look at the instructions for my CTEK. Picking up my CE 04 on Wednesday coming and already planning ahead…
