best windscreen and trunk?

I have the BMW tall screen, plus added a lip spoiler on top of the screen. Then added the BMW Viro expanding trunk, which btw takes up about 1/3 of the back seat.
I am ok with my setup though what have others found to be the best windshield/screen for a CE04 and likewise best trunk.

My concerns on alternates would be -
1. Does a taller/wider windshield lessen the range of the CE04 vs the BMW tall screen?
2. Issues with after-market trunk mounting bracket and mounting point creating too much stress on the CE04 frame in that back sub-frame area.

Thanks for any input and replies with photos a bonus :)

any modifications that significantly impact the aerodynamics of an EV can have a significant effect on its efficiency. The windshield design will influence the bikes interaction with the air. At the time of purchasing my windshield I chose the only windshield that tested and published its aerodynamic design.

Great points, thank you. I will measure this against the bmw tall screen and see how them compare size wise :)

I went with the shad sh39 and could’ve gone a bit bigger (maybe 47) for practical reasons. The 39 does accommodate a full face helmet easily. Didn’t like the BMW solution as it sacrifices the pillion seat. The build quality of Shad has exceeded my expectations.

Windscreen-wise I’ve over-invested ridiculously going with BMW large, Wunderlich, clip-on and recently the Givi. I don’t like the aesthetics
of the Givi at all but it has been, by far, the best for anti-buffeting on highway. Haven’t noticed a change in efficiency after two weeks of active use. (11 mile commute each way at 80MPH 75% of the time).

Have the Puig screen on my new to me CE 04, and the Unit Garage side pannier.

The screen is certainly doing the job reducing wind pressure on my torso – the stock riding ergonomics require you to sit pretty much bolt upright. Furthermore, looks fine on the bike and may give some moderate improvement in efficiency.

The UG side pannier does lock to the bike, which does mean that the bag itself won't get stolen – at least not by rogue opportunists…

Based on some rough measurements, the Puig windscreen offers ~10% more range than the BMW tall windscreen, or ~15% more range than the BMW short windscreen.

I use a Shad SH48, which is spacious but ugly. I use it only when I need to. It's worth noting that the Shad top-case mount cannot be used with the BMW side-case mount out of the box - some modding is required: https://www.bmw-scooters.com/index.php?threads/bmw-side-bag-shad-top-case-together-at-last.2771/
Hi! I am sorry to be bothering you, but could you please elaborate on those details? (Your calculations?) I have the OEM taller windscreen, and nevertheless the turbulence / noise at ~100km/h still is a little bit high for my taste. I am curious how the Puig windscreen could improve this and if the range is also improved by ~5%… or if the Wunderlich choice would be better… Thank you in advance

Cheers

Anyone have one of the bmw tail bags that strap onto the seat or bracket and can also be carried like a backpack?

Looking for feedback on them and hopefully some pictures on the bike, as I’ve only seen these.

I do, you wouldn't believe the amount of groceries I can fit in there. Where the black meets the white, there is a zipper to expand the case.

I personally prefer side bags like this one from Unitgarage, I have the right side one and I will probably order the left side as well great for the grocery and you still can have someone with you.

Thanks for the reply and feedback, could you please share a picture with the tail bag on the bike when you get a chance?

Also, could you please confirm if it can just be strapped onto the seat without needing a mounting bracket, and how comfortable is it to carry as a backpack?

Cheers!

I’m also considering a saddle bag, but I think perhaps the bike will only look good with the right side bag, and I would likely need more room.

And even with both saddle bags it’s still less room than the small tailbag, and I like the idea of just strapping it on the seat without needing additional hardware like a top case mounting bracket or saddle bag mounting frame.

I also like that it could be carried as a backpack so I don’t have to leave it with the bike when I got stuff in it, and I could still ride with a passenger and just have them carry the tailbag as a backpack while riding.
