Givi D5132 Screen

My new Givi Screen arrived this morning (with fitting kit) and I've just spent a frustrating 90 minutes trying to do up the four securing screws!

The fitting kit contains two bent metal "Supports" as they are labelled, which are supposed to go between the screen and the bike for the top two screws. These supports are loose fitting until everything is bolted down, and I found it impossible to align the four screws whilst holding the screen and those two metal supports at the same time.
In the event, I discovered that this screen will simply attach to the bike via the four standard screws (used on original screen) without using those metal supports in the fitting kit.

I've got a query off to Givi, but has anyone fitted this screen WITH those metal supports? If so what's your assembly trick?
I cannot actually see what function those Supports perform, other than pushing the top of the screen very fractionally forwards? Anyone know?

BTW: this screen is much taller than OEM, and (at 183cm) I no longer get the wind blowing in at my eye level!

I don't have the Givi screen (nor, at 5' 9" am I as tall as you) -- I have Wunderlich's Marathon screen. But I just did some searching, and took a look at the instructions for the Givi.

(I found the instructions at https://www.accessoryinternational....hield-fitting-kit-installation-directions.pdf, a five-page 382KB PDF file, which I've also attached here, in case anyone else wants to look at them.)

It looks to me as if the Supports go AROUND the existing stock pieces (#6) -- rather than in front of the bike's stock parts -- to provide a stronger support system. That is, it looks to me as if those Support pieces are NOT there to change the angle at the top of the screen, but rather are present in order to provide a more robust support structure (because those clips, i.e., the Supports, sort of enclose themselves around that stock plastic.

This way, at least the top of the screen will be more securely mounted to the bike than it would be if those top screws just went into the stock screw inserts that are present in the stock supports. That is, it would be more difficult for the top of the windscreen to detach itself (or so it seems to me).

(All the other parts just look like Givi's way of vibration dampening, which may or may not be more effective than the stock system.)

So, while my Wunderlich mounts like the stock windscreen -- and the way you have apparently mounted your new Givi -- I THINK I can see what Givi is attempting to do: provide a stronger system for at least holding the top two screws in place ... because those screws go into metal(?) brackets, and half of those brackets are BEHIND the stock supports, so it would presumably take more effort to rip the top screws out (than if those screws just went into the stock top inserts).

Those fitting instructions were supplied with the screen.
The support brackets have an elongated hole for the screw - the screw simply passes through, like a spacer. The metal support has a rubber buffer on the reverse side which presses against the back of the bike's plastic frame for the screen. Given the metal support is not attached in any other way than the mounting screw passing through it is difficult to see how it strengthens anything.

I installed the same screen and had the same assembly issue. I ended up just using a hot glue gun with some small drops of hot glue to defy gravity and keep everything in place until all the bolts are tight. The supports are important if the wind ever comes from the opposite side (while the scooter is parked) and prevents that the wind forces on the big windshield surface pull out the brass inserts for the four windshield bolts.

The official word from Givi is:
"the plates included in the kit are to give support to the windshield since it is quite high. If you mounted it without these and it is still well attached, the only downside is with regard to the warranty, which may not apply in case of problems or breakage"

I popped a wheelie and installed it when the mounting plate was parallel to the ground.

I also used a hot glue gun to put just a dab on the washer then pushed it onto the windscreen. Worked well and isn't visible from in front.
